When we meet, I will listen to you intently. You are safe with me. You can share your pain, your history, your story. Even after our first visit, your shoulders will lighten a little, the tightness in your chest will begin to subside and the muscles in your neck will loosen a bit. You were never meant to carry your burdens alone.
You will discover that we are alike, that I have made many mistakes, and that we have suffered some of the same experiences-because we are human. But I have studied hard-this thing we call "life"; I have learned from personal hardships, I have acquired knowledge from others, and I am ready to share it with you.

Services
I offer child, adult, couple and family therapy. At times, I conduct parenting classes and teach alternative methods for reprimanding your children without crushing their spirit. I use the following modalities of therapy or a mix thereof best suited to each client. No two treatment plans are ever the same because no two people are the same.
I am Susan Boudreaux, an LMFT living in Colorado Springs. I have a BA in Journalism from the University of Oklahoma and an MS in Counseling-Marriage, Family and Child Therapy from the University of Phoenix. I have had my private practice for about 15 years and specialize in trauma. My clientele include children aged zero and up, adults, teenagers, couples and families of all races, ethnicities and beliefs.
Over half my practice has been devoted to children zero to 20. I use play therapy, games, sand therapy and EMDR to help children move past trauma. Some of the traumas have been simple like mommy or daddy leaving the family temporarily to serve our country in Iraq, Kuwait or Afghanistan. Others have been more complicated, like a child being placed with several different families over time.
I am a Licensed Family, Marriage and Child Therapist (LMFT). The primary difference between an LMFT, and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or any other credentialed counselor, is that family therapists posit that you didn't get to where you are today by yourself.
We now know that trauma is at the core of many diagnoses listed in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. We also know that being in an accident can traumatize someone, as can severe injuries and abuse. You don't have to be directly involved in these situations in order to be affected.

Very unprofessional, had 2 of my 3 appointments attempt to be rescheduled by text message. I explained we could do the next week because none worked for me. Then the counselor forgot, got offensive and wanted to charge me $80.00 when I had told them the day before when they messaged me to reschedule that I couldn’t make it. The appointments felt like a complete waste of time and this counselor did not make me feel at ease while there she gave me more anxiety!

I have been going to Susan for years. She is able to get to the heart of the matter and has suggested good tools and resources for dealing with family changes. She has been accommodating to my ever changing schedule and my own forgetful moments. I have seen measurable improvement through strategy and EMDR therapy and will continue to get better!
