Incredibly rude and short-tempered owners. After my experience in this shop for 5 minutes, I can confidently say I will never return back.
I took a picture of a sign they had to send to my friend who is from LI. My parents and I were then bombarded with a VERY rude man ridiculing us because I had taken a photo, instead of calmly telling us there is no photo taking in the store. Insanely uncalled for. Then I stepped out and tried to go back in, and he stood in the doorway and immaturely blocked me from going in because “I just wanted to take pictures”.
I do not support such awful customer

Incredibly rude woman scolded my wife and I for taking a photo of an item for a relative's birthday. Would have bought the item had we not be scolded. We immediately left and purchased nothing.

My boyfriend and I came to Port Jefferson to see if we can find anything good at Home Kingdom. The minute we walked in there was a woman with a scowl on her face and a man sitting outside with a dog. Like many of other bad reviews, she just looked at us with her RBF, and said nothing to us. When I turned the corner I even saw her looking at my bf up and down scanning his tattoos... in this time of cultural and racial tension, it just left a bad taste in our mouths, so when we went to the other side I said out loud so she can hear, " The people here are pretty friendly" sarcastically.

My mom and I always stop in this store when we’re in Port Jeff - we can always find a gift for anyone we’re looking for! She loves the Jimmy Buffet collection and I’m always shopping for new candles and wax melts. Owners are delightful and hard working!

Not surprised by all the bad reviews, owners are pretty miserable. I rather give my money to another family owned business.

I purchased an adorable little bird necklace from this store. The person behind the counter explained that it was handmade by an artist in Albany. Love supporting local everything.

What a miserable couple. Tried to enter with a face shield( I have breathing issues) and was denied at the door. No one in the store. Very rude ppl. I have lived in the village for 27 years and have spent 100's of $$ there. Will never go back. The lack of compassion was astounding. How this place survives amazes me.

This is the BEST Gift Shop in town! If you are looking for something special and a little more interesting in a gift def give this place a visit. Over the years I have picked up a few items whether it be for myself or someone else. The collection of salt and pepper shakers are worth the visit for the collector, their lighthouses are exquisite, and there every day gift items for any room or home are just perfect. Skip the trip to The Christmas Tree Shops and shop at this small village gem.

Went to Port Jefferson with my mom today, a kind of special treat we don't oven do for ourselves. Went to this store and was treated terribly by the awful woman behind the counter. When we tried to calm her down she talked to us like we were poor, worthless customers. Don't waste your time here.

The woman was so rude. She followed my sister and cousin around the store. She also ranted to my sister because my sister took a picture of a magnet she was going to buy. She snatched it right out of my sister’s hand. We left and are never going back.

Oh, help me, I'm struggling here. I LOVED this shop; it's basically the theme of my entire house (beach everything). I could have walked around here for hours, but I had a ferry to catch and didn't have a lot of time. I had taken a few photos while I was there, since I loved everything so much, but I was "caught" and told not to photograph anything since it "doesn't pay the bills," I apologized and continued shopping, but I guess I didn't turn off the camera off on my phone and I was again scolded.

I don't get it. Photos should be a "free

I've never felt more unwelcome walking into a store before. Don't take your phone out of your pocket here because they will scream at you assuming you're taking a picture. Horrible rude.

Home Kingdom in Port Jefferson looks inviting, but stay away from this place. The shopkeepers are cranky, unfriendly and downright rude. I’m sure they enjoy the dollars ferry visitors spend in their shop, but they make no attempt to hide their disdain for non-locals..... who surely are the primary revenue source for their store. Just skip this place. Spend your souvenir money somewhere else.

TOTALLY AGREE with previous reviews. Visiting Port Jefferson and stopped into Home Kingdom to take a look around. Saw something I thought my friend would love and wanted to send a picture to them. I pulled out my phone and "NO PICTURES" was yelled at us. As an MBA and former buyer/ manager of a major retailer, the treatment we received at this shop was puzzling and shocking. In many other stores, employees have even moved or held items so I could get a better picture. I often send pictures to family and friends to see if they want me to pick something up for them. I told the shop

These people really shouldn't own a business. From the second I walked in the man stood by the door and watched me look around. Then once I was out of his view, the woman came by and pretended to be "straightening things up" and then proceeded to follow me around the store. It was offensive and I will NEVER return there.

Agree with the previous comments. The owners are a crabby couple. They do not greets their custoners. The wife was sitting behind the counter rolling her eyes huffing a puffing the whole time. We have been in there twice and both times they were just cold. My husband was looking to purchase one of their lighthouses and the husband told him to make a decision because they were closing. Boy bye!
