Founded in the early 1970's, Briggs Nursery & Tree Company, Inc. has operated for almost 45 years from its original location in Vista California in North San Diego County. Still family owned and operated, over the years, Briggs has expanded to nearly 200 acres of prime growing grounds in Vista, San Marcos and Bonsall.
From the I-15: Head Westbound on CA-78. Exit Rancho Santa Fe Rd. Turn Left on Rancho Santa Fe Road. Turn Right on Linda Vista Rd. Turn Right on Poinsettia Ave. The nursery is right around the corner - tree yard is on the right and main yard is on your left. From the I-5 (coming from the South): Exit Palomar Airport Road and travel east.
Here, you can view the answers to our most commonly asked questions about plants. From questions about specific plant material, plant placement, plant longevity and animal deterrents - we have an "online" answer for you. 3 What is a good large tree that will do well along a coastal area as well as inland areas?
Briggs has created an expanded version of the San Diego County Water Authority's 'Nifty 50' list that encourages homeowners to select plants that will help conserve water usage. Cutting back on water doesn't mean you have to plant only succulents and California natives.
These plants were chosen because they are attractive, non-invasive, easy to maintain, long-term performers, scaled for residential landscapes and of course, after established, drought tolerant.

I was going to rate them a one star because of a woman the office counter was very rude to me over the phone this morning. They charged me for two five gallon, Argyranthemum plants which I didn't buy. I explained the situation, but the woman was short and said that I should have checked my receipt. After that interaction, I was furious and vowed never to shop there again.
However, I decided to give them another chance to see how they rectified my overcharge. I wasn't disappointed when I encountered Angela at the counter. She credited my account and apologized for the poor customer

Great self serve nursery with very competitive prices. We bought a large quantity of plants from them for our yard and all of them did excellent. They were much less expensive than other stores I checked out. I had no issues taking our toddler son and setting the plants out that I wanted along the driving path and then going back through with our truck to pick them up.

I go to this place all the time and I love. Best prices for fully mature trees. All the people complaining in the comments probably didn’t know the process here and need to be walked around like children. You park and walk around, find what you want, load them up and then drive it up to check out. Easy peasy. If you want easy, no hassle and the best prices come here. If you can’t figure out the process and would rather pay an arm and a leg for plants that will probably die, go to Home Depot.

Stay away from this Nursery. The customer service and condescending nature of staff is abhorrent. I went to Briggs Nursery looking for drought tolerant ground cover that would spread quickly. There was a very kind gentlemen, I don't know his name but he has grey hair and works at the entry station helping customers with any questions they may have. He asked if he could help me. I told him what I was I was looking for, and he proceeded to tell me that the best choice for me would be a particular kind. He told me how much I would need to cover the area I had and how to care for it. I appreciated

Large selection and great prices, but you need to know how to recognize the exact variety of the plants you are looking for. There are more varieties on the lot than in the availability posted on their web site. Some plants are labeled, but many are not. Also, sometimes signs fall down and get moved or a customer will buy the pot holding the sign putting it in a new pot that may or not hold that same hybrid. I recommend studying the leaves and/or blossoms of your plants so you can positively identify them without relying on signs or tags.

Good selection of plants/trees, but no helpful/friendly staff if you have questions or if you are new to gardening/plants. They missed out on a sale because no one wanted to discuss the plants we were looking for. They were unhelpful when asking about types of plants and growing conditions and even a little rude. They give you a map and you basically have to figure out the rest. They had the plants we wanted, but I found another nursery instead because I didn't want to give them my business after how I was treated.

Great variety of plants, prepare to lose yourself. Good pricing, but tough to find anything and nothing is marked. Staff is not helpful, with at least 5 staff members around, I had to wait for 20 minutes to finally pay for my plants. Huge cluster of people running around aimlessly. Poor organization! Mess

Bait and Switch Scam-Do not buy anything you cannot pick up that day.
Ordered 30 white rose iceberg bushes, instead got rose bushes that do not flower.
Wife wanted white roses so we went to Briggs. On their yard, they were 3 feet tall and flowering but they only had 4-5 of them. We ordered 30 of them and were told they would be delivered from their growing farm for a fee.
Truck driver shows up with 30 1 ft bushes. We refuse delivery and asked for the 3 ft tall rose bushes we saw that we paid for. Briggs sent another delivery a few days later that had 3 ft bushes but only a few of them with

Really cool place! I got all my organic produce from them and they have been thriving! I filled my whole huge garden bed with veg for $20! Great price for the quality of goods, will never buy veg from Home Depot again! Pictures are from day one and 2 months later. My bed is still full and I pull from it daily!

What else is there to do in a pandemic?? You start planting anything you can! Work on your lawn, back yard, garden... anything.
I really like this nursery. I love the mature fruit trees. A lot of the fruit trees are fruiting and established. They also have many many different passion fruit! With fruit on it too!! We went to Green Thumb last year and our passion fruit still hasn't fruited. We bought a ruby grapefruit. Probably come back and get a passion fruit tree. It's good for privacy!
Anyway, I would love to see some berries and more herbs. Otherwise, likes it's name, it&apos

3.5/5 stars, bumping it up to 4 stars since some items were cheaper here than other places.
This is a self-service nursery. Don't expect to find many staff around to help you answer and pick out plants.
The plants here are decently priced and are definitely healthier than other nurseries.
Lots of options to pick from. You gotta come in with some prior research so you're not spending HOURS here.
Overall, a decent place to pick up some plants, but I wouldn't wholeheartedly buy everything here for my landscaping needs.

Called in to make sure they had Night Blooming Jasmin in stock after calling several other local nurseries who did not and they told me come on in they had 40 in stock.
I drove from San Diego to North County and went in the office were a staff member again checked their computer to make sure it was indeed still in stock, he said "there should be 40 of them out there" I was handed a map and told to drive to a certain area of the nursery were I would find them. After spending 40 minutes looking and nobody from the front office wondering were I went or if I found what I was looking for

We are currently undergoing landscaping renos in our front year. We decided to make the trek up to Briggs in Vista due to the wide selection and the ability to drive around to look for our plants. The downside of this nursery is that if you have no clue what you want or looking for, you're SOL. There is no one to assist you while you're pursuing the field. One advice I have is to make sure you stop at the office first to pick up a map. The map all give you the types of plants in each section of the nursery and when you speak to the people up front then you may ask your questions.

I find they have plants I acquire which are as good as it gets of high quality, - that's why I give them five stars. No business is entirely perfect, and I realize some say that five stars are thrown around like Christmas candy,... but, Briggs has top quality plants (I'm not saying they all are, as with any nursery, realistically speaking) which I and my clients are fully satisfied with.
And when you plant them at home, proper planting and watering is important for success, or best success.
So, get things done right. And btw, you can hire me to make that happen, if you like: Plants

If you are looking for customer service, go anywhere else.
I had problems with some of my plants immediately dying despite being professionally installed and irrigated. I called Briggs simply to let them know and to see if there was any remedy. I was met with hostility right out of the gate. While I understand that Briggs does not guarantee their plants and that sometimes plants don't survive transplantation, as a customer I expect more than and immediate accusative tone. An apology would have sufficed or even feigned concern. Instead, I was told "this is not Home Depot" (typical

I would NOT do business with these people I went in to check out the bamboo selection which they had very little on site but the older gentleman told me he had some bamboo off site for $57 I asked if they could bring them in to see then they gouged the price up to $75 and wouldn't budge here is some of the conversation.

Manny
Whatever older gentleman you may be referring to was incorrect - the price is and always has been $75.50 for a 15gallon Bamboo Alphonse Karr. Perhaps he was referring to the sale price for our Black Friday Sale which would have made the price
