It's an age-old tradition that often gets lost in the midst of modern technologies, like smartphone screens and streaming services. At the Columbia Theatre for the Performing Arts in Hammond, LA, we certainly believe in disconnecting when it's necessary, but we also applaud reconnecting. In live performances, there's no option to rewind, pause, or start over, and that's what we love so much about the art form!
It's human, it's real, and it can be so tangible, you feel as if you're living out the experience with those on stage. Instead of running to Google to inquire about "things to do near me, " turn to the Columbia Theatre as a resource for local entertainment, theatre, kids activities, and much more.

The Columbia Theatre is a beautiful old movie theater which has been renovated and repurposed into a performing Arts Center in downtown Hammond, Louisiana. Throughout the year the theatre offers a variety of traveling shows, lectures and local performances. In the spring, the building is abuzz with numerous dance recitals from local dance studios. At Christmastime you can catch the annual performance of The Nutcracker.
The Columbia is a wonderful treasure.

Perfect to see this theatre built in the 1920s and that kept its mood and part of old advertising left on a wall to see.

This is the first time I've been to the Columbia theater since I was a kid it was just as I remembered. Actually the last time that I was in the Columbia theater was for Star wars empire strikes back. And what brought me back to the Columbia theater again was Star wars a one-man show. I brought my 11 year old son told him about all the exciting movies I had saw at this great old theater. I am now looking forward to bringing him and my other younger son to many plays and musicals and any other great events that the Columbia theater Will be showing. This is a great part of the history of the city

What a lovely refurbished old downtown theater!
Loved the downtown location. Loved the comfy seats. Loved the great acoustics! I was in Hammond for a chorale performance and this theater was a perfect location. The sound was good. The location was great (park in nearby lots or on the street). The restrooms were spacious.
Wish I could have gotten their earlier to eat at one of the area restaurants.
