Third Life Studio
I have recently made the extremely difficult decision to close Third Life Studio at the end of July. All the growth, change, and development in Union Square is indeed positive in many ways. But it has also made it impossible for me to stay open.

After much communication, deliberation, and a dedicated attempt on my part to transform the operational model of the Studio into a more sustainable one, the building landlord was only willing to renew the lease for one year and-- congruent with the changes in property values occurring in Union Square and across Somerville-- for an exorbitant amount of money.More than can be supported by a humble yet beloved arts space.
Services
Since 2004, Third Life Studio has been building its reputation as a destination to experience live music and dance in the Boston area. It is an intimate space with beautiful, clear acoustics and a warm, inviting ambiance--or as one audience member recently said, "This space has a GREAT vibe!"

The Studio has a commitment to presenting quality, multi-genre music and dance performance: from jazz to world music, from modern dance to cabaret, and from classical chamber music to the experimental realms of electronic sonic space.
Third Life Studio has provided affordable rehearsal space for many groups and individual dancers and musicians for the last decade. The Studio provides an enclosed and focused space for the creative process, unlike other rehearsal environments where sound or other people may be distracting or interrupt the flow.
There will be one more Midsummer Sing for Women at Third Life Studio before the Studio closes at the end of July. Please let me know if you would like to be added to my singing opportunities with Susan Robbins email list, and you will receive all future notifications! Singing in community is a powerful source of joy, celebration, and ritual for women around the world.
As the Director of Union Square's Third Life Studio, it has indeed been my honor and pleasure to host incredible creative artistry in performance, workshop, class, and rehearsal since 2003. I have been very moved by the outpouring of gratitude and appreciation from so many of you. One of the many many "Friends of Third Life Studio" has initiated a fundraising effort to help defray the expenses of closing and looking for a new space.

I love Third Life Studios. Whenever I'm there, for a class or a concert, I feel immediately removed from the hustle and bustle of Union Square, and find myself totally immersed in the art going on in the space, especially music from cultures all over the world. I highly recommend checking it out.

A comfortable spot for those weird little off-beat music, dance and performance art shows. I'm glad this place exists. I love you. Happy birthday. I miss you and can't get ting to day and year ahead of the mushrooms.

I took weekly dance classes here for a couple of months. It's a cute little space with the 87 bus stop conveniently located directly in front of it. However, I personally don't feel it's a very good studio for group dance classes, due to the lack of mirrors. There's just one small section off to the side of one of the walls that has a mirror.

Attended a music performance here a few weeks ago. What a wonderful little studio/ venue. Convenient street parking on Somerville Ave. Some great restaurants and spots for drinks around here, including Machu Picchu Boston- a must for tasty Peruvian food!

Spent a weekend at a dance workshop here. It's a small place with only one single use bathroom, but has a great little living room style backroom with comfy hangout chairs and feels great. Great place for workshops!

This space has a great vibe and a great Steinway grand piano. It used to be a retail store; now it's an unobtrusive gem in Union Square. During the day and weeknights there are all sorts of fascinating classes. On Friday and Saturday nights there are intimate concerts and performances.
