Services
At Big Al's we know the importance of being involved. We support local trail development, and cycling advocacy in our community and beyond. We sponsor the Crested Butte Mountain Bike Association, and encourage employees to be members and participate in Trail work whenever possible. The shop participates in the 1% for Open Space program that collects a 1% tax on all goods purchased at our store that is then used to preserve land in our area.
On-line reservations are live! OUR FLEET REMAINS LIMITED THRU THE MONTH OF JUNE. If you are trying to book a bike and it shows no availability it's because there are none. Please choose another model. If you call the shop we cannot make bikes appear out of nowhere. Our Hard Tail mountain bikes are awesome mountain bikes offered at our most affordable price.
At Big Al's Bicycle Heaven we live for that moment when we can slap a high five to someone walking out the door with a new bike. No matter if it was an awesome deal from our rental fleet, a brand new mountain bike, a sweet townie, or a grom getting their first pedal bike, we love to put people on bikes.
We have hundreds of miles of mountain bike trails in Crested Butte area. From scenic beginner loops to epic back country adventures. In addition to the trails in the National Forest and surrounding area, we have an awesome bike park at Crested Butte Mountain Resort. There are a variety of gravel loops to explore also.
Hi there, we are so happy that you are planning to come see us. Although we love to take your calls and help you plan, we do get very busy in spring and summer. Here are answers to some of the questions we get asked the most. Crested Butte sits at 8,995 ft above sea level and is in the heart of the West Elk Mountains.

Alex Kovach is a fount of knowledge and passion for all things bicycle related, and this comes through in the quality of his work. He is my go-to guy for all my (numerous) questions, and he pretty much bats perfect with his answers. Not only this, he is a great guy. I'd recommend Big Al's for anyone looking to get started, learn more about bike maintenance, and improve their riding experience.

Called around 3pm to get my brakes bleed. Was stoked they would get the work done before end of day. Dropped off bike and was greeted by a broken front brake lever when I picked it up. Shop mechanic blamed shimano and said it was a common issue. I’m ok with that except I brought the brakes in both intact and now left with front broken and have to order a new lever assembly. Torn as I was appreciative of the speedy help and at same time my gut knows the mechanic lied right to my face instead of just being like hey bummer man o broke a common issue while bleeding the front. Won’t likely return

100% would recommend will go again. They were super helpful with a weird problem that we had with a weird bike, and they were also helpful in helping us find a good ride for our skill levels in the valley. They've also got bike stands set up outside with some tools where you can work on your own bike. It's brilliant.

Big Al’s is easily the best bike shop in crested butte, maybe in the nation! They always tell you exactly when they’ll get you your bike back and the staff is really nice to anyone who comes in. We’ve had to get my bike fixed for numerous issues in the past 5 years that I’ve had it, and without fail Al’s has come through for us every time! 5/5 for service, staff and quickness of fixing! You guys are the best!
