Services
Abdul Majid Khan, M.D. is a practicing Psychiatrist who was born and raised in Southeast Louisiana. He completed his Psychiatric training at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans and Ochsner Medical Center, having started at Charity Hospital before Katrina. He has served as Medical Director of several Acute Inpatient Psychiatric facilities, Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient Programs in the private sector.
The purpose of a psychiatric evaluation is to diagnose, emotional, behavioral or developmental conditions or disorders. This initial evaluation provided by either the psychiatrist or nurse practitioner is comprehensive but medical in nature. It will explore many aspects and typically will last 45 minutes.
We ask that you make the initial call for an appointment yourself, rather than having a family member do it for you. You may also complete the New Patient Questionnaire and Intake Forms. After they've been reviewed, our administrative assistant will typically get back to you within 1 business day.

I'd been using this facility for over a year. Dr. Khan himself is very friendly and kind. I never felt rushed or like he didn't care. However, his practice has the absolute WORST receptionist I've ever dealt with. She will tell you she'll talk to him or the NP and call you back, but then she never will. She's told me numerous times she'd leave them a message to call me back, but they never do. Knowing the MD/NP, they would call me back if they had ever received my message. If she doesn't like you, she won't answer your calls. I've called a couple of

I'm not sure what the issue was but I couldn't get anyone to refill my prescription or even call me back. Every time I called, I got voicemail. No one ever answers the phone. I left repeated voicemail messages over period of about 10 days. No response! I ran out of medication and had to find another doctor. It was very frustrating.

Suggestion: hire administrative assistant to answer your phone calls so you can provide better service to your patients.

Seeing a psychiatrist can be scary, uncomfortable and make you feel very vulnerable. Everyone at Khan Psychiatry made me feel totally normal about the whole situation, because it IS normal!! Sometimes we need a little help with out mental health and THATS OKAY!!!! I was very scared before I went in for my first visit and the receptionist reassured me through email and a phone call that there is hope and we can all work together to find a solution. Dr. Khan made me feel like I had been listened to fully and made sure we came up with a treatment plan that I was 100% comfortable with. They have made
