I am a licensed psychologist providing psychotherapy to adults of all ages in Cambridge, Massachusetts. I offer a supportive and safe environment in which patients can be optimally challenged to transcend their previously held beliefs about their own limitations. My patients are true partners in therapy and active in their own healing.
I genuinely believe that everyone who steps foot in my office has enormous potential for growth, love, freedom, creativity, and fulfillment. I use Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP) to help individuals take an honest look at the feelings and experiences they have not been able to shed, so that they can finally move beyond them and live the life they want.

Services
I am a licensed psychologist (MA license #10695; NY license 024011) providing psychotherapy to adults of all ages. I specialize in treating anxiety, depression and other mood disorders, relationship and personality difficulties, trauma and major mental illness. I have expertise in treating individuals who have found other forms of treatment unhelpful or ineffective.
In general, I tend to work from an Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP) approach. This model helps individuals take an honest look at the feelings and experiences that they have not been able to shed, so that they can finally move beyond them and live the life they want. ISTDP is rapidly effective, and oftentimes patients say they get more out of the first session than they have in years of previous therapy.
Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy, or ISTDP, is a revolutionary approach to psychotherapy that offers rapid relief from suffering, abatement of symptoms, and a comprehensive understanding of the self. ISTDP is a short-term therapy, often lasting only a few months. ISTDP was developed by Dr. Habib Davanloo, MD, emeritus Professor of Psychiatry at Montreal General Hospital and McGill University Faculty of Medicine.
Because ISTDP is designed to be a short-term therapy, it has been shown to save patients thousands of dollars per year compared to other therapy methods which require a long-term commitment to achieve comparable results. For my patients, this means a comprehensive and effective treatment that saves them both money and time.

Jonathan is truly a wonder. He worked tirelessly on my behalf even though at times I was extremely resistant and stubborn. His methods are modern, unique, and excellent. After about a year we really made some great progress such that I was able to stop going. Jonathan wants to cure you; not keep you hooked on him and coming in weekly. If he didn't save my life he certainly gave it back to me.

Together, Jonathan and I worked to completely change the course of my life. He's method is efficient and personally, very successful. He helped change the way I think about and experience anxiety/depression to the point where not only are they not debilitating anymore, but I am living an actively enjoyable life. I never could have imagined my current emotional wellbeing 2-3 years ago. ISTDP is challenging, however very rewarding. Jonathan is a wonderful, intelligent, and intuitive partner to have as a therapist. I feel eternally grateful for the work we did together.

Jonathan is an excellent therapist. He is very present, knowledgeable, and kind. I've done therapy with several other clinicians and I accomplished more in one year with him than I did in several years with the others. I highly recommend him, especially if you have been feeling stuck on a particular issue.

I went to Jonathan for help dealing with severe anxiety and depression. Over about a year of treatment we were able to make massive improvements on both of those issues as well as a handful of others (destructive behaviors, intrusive thoughts, and uncontrollable muscle cramps) that it didn’t even occur to me that therapy could help.
Most importantly, Jonathan has given me new insight into myself, my emotions, and how to interact with the world around me. My work with Jonathan has been invaluable.

I have been seeing Jonathan for three years and I would not want to see anyone else. He's a great listener and really adapts our sessions to what is more relevant for my progress in a given week. He is culturally aware and respectful and he always put in extra effort to make sure anything that we talked about was helpful and would actually help me. I was deeply depressed and anxious when I first started seeing him but appointments with him helped me work through a lot of problems in my personal life as well as unresolved issues within myself. Would highly recommend 12/10.
