If your eyes see 20/20, can they still interfere with the ability to learn to read or read to learn? Most definitely they can, and 20/20 is only one very small measurement of the entire visual system. We have five times the sensory input to the brain from the visual system of any other sense that we have.

In the vast majority of the states, the school "vision screening" involves looking at an eye chart twenty feet away. How much of the time is spent in a classroom looking twenty feet away when studying? We are now doing so much more sustained near-point close work, yet the school screening does little to pick up people who are having difficulties seeing near print.
Services
Dr. Wylie and Bev, his bride for over 30 years, have called Spokane home since 1982. They have four children and enjoy time together skiing, playing tennis, playing Ultimate Frisbee with friends and making music. Please call our office at: 509-535-5855 if you experience loss of vision, double vision, swelling, infection or any eye emergency, contact us immediately for guidance.
Our exceptional, friendly staff is our greatest asset. They are excited about what they do and they care personally about getting the best results for our patients. Our receptionists will try to accommodate your busy schedule by finding appointments that suit your needs. Debra became a Certified Paraoptometric Technician after graduating from the Vision Tech program at SCC in 1994.
Dr. Wylie has been our doctor for years, so we knew he was a good eye doctor. We brought our 14 year-old in because she had been having trouble reading fine print. He discovered papilledema, which is inflammation of the optic nerve. The worst case scenario is that papilledema would be caused by a brain tumor.
Our eye care center in Spokane offers a wide range of eye care services to people of all ages, from children to older adults. Our optometric team is dedicated to ensuring that you enjoy healthy eyes and clear vision so that you can live your best life. Whether you need a new pair of contacts, eyeglasses or require eye disease treatment, our Spokane optometric team provides cutting-edge eye and vision care.
Childhood myopia, also known as near or short-sighted, can cause very serious eye diseases later in life. Offer your child a brighter future with myopia management. Myopia (nearsightedness) is reaching epidemic proportions. By 2050, half of the world's population is expected to have myopia.

That's worrying, as having myopia significantly raises the risk of developing sight-threatening eye diseases later in life, such as cataracts, glaucoma, retinal detachment and macular degeneration. The level of myopia a child has is directly correlated to their risk of eye disease - the higher the myopia, the greater the risk.

Eye therapy with Dr. Wylie at Advanced Eyecare & Therapies has changed my life. When I first saw Dr. Wylie, I had been suffering from post-concussion syndrome for over a year. Unbearable migraines and vertigo were ruining the quality of my life and I had become extremely depressed. I was unable to drive or work. Luckily, I had found a wonderful P.T. at Dynamic Bracing who suggestion eye therapy with Dr. Wylie might be helpful.
My recovery did not happen overnight, but I gained immediate relief as soon as I started doing light therapy wearing my new glasses with prisms; my whole world changed.

We are forever grateful for the therapy our 11 year old received! His confidence in all areas of life and especially reading and writing exponentially increased with the expertise & nurturing guidance from Dr. Wylie and his amazing staff. It's vital that our kiddos have these foundations! And now my son has the new pathways, he needed help forming, in his brain and tools to continue to feel empowered for the rest of his life! What a gift we've been given!

Dr. Wiley and his TEAM are amazing! Super kind, helpful, and understanding.
Our son started last year (2020) with Ms. Bianca as his visiting therapist. He LOVES reading, but didn’t enjoy writing or trying to write. He progressed so much, he felt confident entering a drawing context at this school and ended up winning for his grade! He did the drawing and writing with ease and was so very proud of his outcome. Without going into many details of all of the things our son needed help with, I can say and recommend everyone that wants/needs to be seen to give them a call and set up an appointment

THE BEST! I've been to many@ optometrists. Dr. Wylie is far and away the very best optometrist I've ever seen (I'm not blind! And I never will be with the care given by Dr Wylie, absolutely world class!)... He is better than the optometrists I was able to find in San Francisco, San Jose, Seattle, and many other places! Thank you!

My Son and I both have glasses through Dr Wylie. He is respected and appreciated beyond words - now we are hundreds of miles away and he's one of those stories you tell your kids -- Dr Wylie is worth walking to -- barefoot, in the snow!!

Dr. Wylie is amazing! The office staff are all wonderful. My daughter was getting frequent headaches while reading and would mentally fatigue. Reading wasn't very enjoyable for her because her eyes would hurt and sometimes she would have double vision. After 20 weekly visits of vision therapy with Chris, who is so encouraging, along with a short amount of daily work at home, she is now reading several grades above her grade level and reading a chapter book every day or two! She loves reading! Thank you Dr. Wylie for diagnosing her visual system problem and for providing the treatment to overcome

I'm SO grateful to Advanced Eyecare and Therapies for helping my son with his vision. Within the first 3 weeks of vision therapy, we began to see improvements. He no longer stares off into space, never complains of headaches, and is less fatigued, among so many other improvements. I'm so thankful his OT referred him here because I never would have known how much he was struggling with simply seeing nor that there was help available for him. Bianca, Dr. Wylie, and all the staff are incredibly kind and caring. If your little one is struggling in school or having a hard time focusing, I would highly

Dr. Wylie has been our doctor for years, so we knew he was a good eye doctor. But in June 2018, we learned that he is a fantastic eye doctor, and very thorough. We brought our 14 year-old in because she had been having trouble reading fine print. He discovered papilledema, which is inflammation of the optic nerve. The worst case scenario is that papilledema would be caused by a brain tumor. We had the worst case scenario; our daughter had a brain tumor!! Because of Dr. Wylie, we started asking the questions we needed to ask, and it was discovered just in time. A neurosurgeon removed it just about
