I don't typically write reviews unless the experience is extraordinary and this one has been. I went gray very young and have been coloring my hair for 20 years. It grows fast so I'm in a salon every month. During that time I've only encountered a handful of stylists that are exceptional. Even fewer than that can do both, color and cut at the highest level. When they do both and are exceptional at one, they are typically just mediocre at the other hair service.

I’ve been to Scott twice for a haircut and Brazilian Blowout so far and the results have been life changing. I have naturally curly/kinky hair and the results were better than I could have ever imagined. The BB has really loosened the curl making my hair much more manageable. I can style my hair in 5 minutes whereas before it would take me hours to straighten it. Also I love the hair products he recommended especially the hair oil. It makes my hair soft and shiny. I moved from California to Texas 3 months ago. I had used a few different stylists during my 69 years in Calif., even going to two of the top salons in Beverly Hills, and Hollywood. I can tell you that my experience with Scott Risk was far superior than any salon I have EVER been to. Scott colored my hair, then put in highlights that are so natural looking and enhance the hair color so much. He took so much care to use just a few strands at a time when highlighting, that the look is perfection. I also had him do a Brazilian Blowout as my hair is very curly and frizzy. I found Scott few months back when I needed my hair to be fixed because of a bad bleach job. Not only did he fix it, he made a disaster into a gorgeous cut and color correct! Scott is the Van Gogh of hair and a transformation guru. He is by far the most talented hair stylist in Texas. He wields his shears and color brush like a master artist creating a work of fine art. Watching him work is a visually striking performance and I'm always in pure amazement how every aspect and movement is like a dance of perfection. His assistant and him work in synchronized unison. I've never seen anything like it. My highlights are so naturally beautiful and I look at least 10 years younger. My signature layered haircut flows with incredible movement and bounce. Let me just say first - I have curly colored hair and my oldest daughter has curly hair. I’m very picky about my color. I moved from California about a year ago to Plano into corporate housing. While I was house hunting I was also hunting for a professional who was educated with curly hair. When I moved I was in need of a cut and color but was afraid to let anyone touch my hair. Scott is an expert in his craft! I am extremely picky with my color since I am a natural blonde and the color grew out perfectly. I went a whole 6 months between colorings and it still looked beautiful and natural. I also got his signature layers cut and loved it!! First time I have actually left a salon truly happy with my hair. I would recommend Scott a thousand times over! He is incredibly talented!

I've never seen anything like it! It's extremely hard to find someone that gets curly hair. Scott took his time to understand the color I wanted and took a strategic approach with his color formulas to ensure great results. My hair cut was nothing short of amazing! I AM SO IMPRESSED! I usually never post reviews but Scott and his assistant deserves 5 stars all round! I tried highlights on my hair for the first time and was very nervous before getting it, but Scott and his assistant made me feel completely comfortable and assuring. Mr. Risk is obviously as talented as his 100's of 5-star reviews state. By leaving this review, I'm only adding to his 700th, 5 star review. Scott is open to answering any questions and able to translate his process into laymen's terms if needed. He described his cutting style for curly hair types and why/what difference particular cutting techniques make. I typically don't wear my curly hair since I am unsure of which products to use. If I could give Scott 10 stars I would. Not only is he a highly capable advanced stylist, he's a genius with scissors. I've never had a better haircut in my life. I've recently moved to the area from California where I had a very long standing relationship with my stylist and finding a new one was a daunting task. I spent a great deal of time searching the net for reviews of superior stylists and gave Scott a call. I literally feel like I won the hair guru lottery. He is spectacular in every way. This review is a long time coming. I found Scott almost 2 years ago after moving to the Frisco area. Two months ago I decided to be adventurous and try a new person. EPIC FAIL. After getting a horrible balayage (if we are even going to call it that) my very brunette hair was an all over brass blonde color.

I moved to Texas just under 2 years ago and have experienced multiple haircut disasters at other places I have tried, causing me to only schedule hair appointments during my visits home to New York. When my sister came for a visit I came across Scott's website, saw the images of his work and decided to give it a chance and was so glad I did! He is the only person I have found who gave me a haircut with shape and movement that I love at a price that beats the NY price tag I usually pay. I found Scott on Yelp after I moved to the Dallas metro area. He had at least 80 5-star reviews at the time, so I'm not quite sure what's going on with the Yelp site. There are a lot of women who've been to this business and have written great reviews.

I couldn't be happier to find Scott in Dallas!! The hair gods have blessed me to reconnect with him! He was amazing 3-years ago and even better today. Let me start with this - I never write reviews on Yelp, but I had such a great experience with Scott Risk, that I wanted to share it. My hair is pretty curly, but also fine. For the last 10 years I have damaged the crap out of my hair with keratin treatments and flat ironing it. The last time I did a keratin treatment was five years ago, and as a result of the treatment, I suffered hair loss. Had a great experience at Scott Risk salon! I have very fine hair, and had been looking for a new hairdresser ever since I moved to Dallas from Nevada just over 2 years ago. A friend referred me to Scott, and I let him have carte blanche with my hair, as long as he didn't cut it short.
Wow, I am so glad I let him work his creative genius on my hair! It was lank and lifeless, and in dire need of a cut, and now it has movement and more volume and looks great!
