Was here on September 17, 2021 with five friends. Went up to paid my check gave the man a 20.00 he only gave me back a 1.00 in change. My bill was for 13.00 and some change. I told them about it and the lady in charge said you did not leave a tip and I said no because food and service was terrible. So she said no the man gave you back what money you should have. Long story short don't go there. You will be Cheated out of your money

Called twice to place my order ahead of time, no answer. Upon arrival, I’m asked how many people in my party…I replied that I’m hear to place an order to go. I’m then asked did I call ahead and if I’m here to pick an up an order? I kindly replied that my food would probably be ready by now if you had picked up the phone, I called twice and nobody answered. No apologies, not a care in the world, she very rudely asked me what I wanted to order and kept repeating my order back to me incorrectly. This isn’t my first go around with this lady, but it will be the last. The restaurant wasn’t

Great food, but TERRIBLE service. We waited an extended amount of time to order, then the waitress forgot our drinks. We also had to wait to pay our bill when there were nearby employees standing around as well as a line of people out the door. I understand being short staffed, but the staff they had were also not friendly or helpful. Definitely would not recommend as we were very disappointed.

I think they were short staffed on this visit so, I understand why we had the inconveniences that we did.
..I will say my Taco Salad ended up looking more like Taco Salad Soup. ...idk if they're suppose to be that liquidy but I didn't think they are 🤷‍♀️
..2 stars for this visit. Clean and comfortable atmosphere but, slow service and poor representation of the grub!

I have been to El Ranchero maybe a half dozen times and have never been disappointed. The food is always awesome and fresh and the margaritas are out of this world. No skipping on ingredients here. Top shelf tequila and the service is prompt. I am always amazed at how fast the meal is served. Great salsa and free chips too.

Here on Valentines Day with a group. Not even close to full but service is terrible. Super slow, 2 meals didn't even come out so they had to retake orders. I sat for at least 15 minutes and didn't see our waiter and didn't have anything to drink. Food was less than average, the ones who got taco salads regretted it because the bottom of them were liquid. Do yourself a favor and go to Casa Brava! Food and service have never been this bad there!

If I could give this restaurant zero stars I would based on customer service. So long story short, there was a mix up on a carryout order. I called and asked to speak to a manager about it. Ernesto took the call. I asked for a credit due to inconvenience and Ernesto said he wouldn't do that. "Theres been too many people calling asking for credit". He then accused me of calling other times, which I have not done. I informed Ernesto that he will no longer be receiving my business.

This was the worst restaurant experience I've had in YEARS, nay, a decade. We heard a tequila bar had opened. So, we went to the back part of the restaurant where this bar is. It was chilly, but there was a fireplace, which warmed us.
After 25 minutes, we got the wrong drink. Then....you know what? It's a boring story. It was terrible. We left after 75 minutes with no food. The waitress was apologetic, dealing with table after table and no food, no food, wrong drink, bad drinks. DON'T GO THERE.

I ordered the chiles rellenos. I was very disappointed. The presentation was as though everything, chiles, rice and beans had just been slapped onto the plate. Those were also the plainest-tasting chiles rellenos I have ever had. One bite of one of the two served also tasted a bit off; maybe it wasn't the freshest chile or the chese had gone bad.
Prior to the chiles I had queso fundido with chorizo as an appetizer. This, too was very bland. I also had to wonder, whether it was made with Oaxaca cheese, as it was just a melted cheese soup and did not have the stringiness of the queso fundido

This used to be our go to Mexican place for my fiancé and I - our schedules have been so busy though to where we can't sit and eat. The last five times we've ordered, we've gotten completely home and our whole order has been wrong. (We realize we should check our food before leaving, not the point). The last time I called (tonight) about our food being wrong once again, the lady was so rude like it was our fault. Not to mention as we received our food the first time we could tell there was no queso in the bag. We told the lady and she huffed and didn't pay us any apologies

I've been to this restaurant about 20 times for lunch in the last few years with groups of all sizes. The food quality has always been consistently good. The service isn't always as consistent as the food quality. I've had much worse service at Bloomington's most well known restaurants. Many of these negative reviews are unfair. Last night we tried the new Southside location and it was really well done. Good food. Excellent service! 5 Stars easily.

Well let's see they didn't give us straws with our drinks. The pork on the three tacos was exceptional. The rice and beans were average. I wish the tacos were on corner tortillas or wheat tortillas. The chips and salsa was pretty good. The steak was OK, it could have been more tender. The restaurant was big. The decorations were nice.

Nothing peeves me more than getting an item that is different than the menu description. I don't like the obligatory lettuce that all Mexican restaurants plop on a hot plate. So, if the menu says it comes with lettuce, I order "No lechuga, por favor." My husband brought me a carry out order of shrimp nachos from El Ranchero, I have posted a picture of what I got. The menu says with shrimp, lettuce and sour cream. What I got was a disgusting mess of shrimp, tomatoes, onions and green peppers. The shrimp, all 5 or 6 of them were overcooked and foul-tasting. There was hardly

I've been here twice this year and I really, really enjoy this place! The menu is huge, and the food is delicious, fresh, and hot every time. I've even had the cook bring the food out to me directly after cooking it. I've ordered burritos, chimichangas, and chili rellanos and all are very delicious. And unlike most Mexican restaurants, their rice and beans are actually fresh and hot.
The restaurant itself is very clean and pretty expansive. Service is great, too. We are quickly served at all times, whether it's asking if we need more water or if we want additional food. The

El Ranchero - the Bloomington edition! Below is my original review of the Ellettsville location - and it pretty much holds true for Bloomington. Funny thing is that it's on the outskirts of town, so it's probably just as difficult to get to from downtown as Elletsville would be! :) But for a good local Mexican joint, you still can't go wrong. My favorite, and there are plenty to choose from in Bloomington.
Might add that the space is pretty large and modern compared to the Ellettsville location. Televisions, high ceilings, and more make it a modern building with Mexican decor
