You may remember the Greek myth of Pygmalion, a mortal who sculpted a statue so beautiful that he fell in love with it. Aphrodite, the goddess of beauty and love, took pity on the lovesick artist, and brought to life the exquisite sculpture, which was named Galatea. Whether you have a jewelry design in mind or wish to work with me toward a design, the goal of Galatea Designs is to give life to a concept.
Making a diamond purchase can be overwhelming. Deciding WHERE to shop can be as difficult as deciding which diamond to buy. Hiring a diamond broker is a good alternative, and is a much better value for the customer. Brokers don't own the diamonds, but act as your agent to locate just the right gemstone from a network of reputable sources from around the world.
You already know that the "Four Cs" are Color, Clarity, Cut, and Color. The traditional round cut, when executed to the ideal proportions, maximizes a stone's natural beauty by yielding the fullest sparkle, fire and brilliance. However, a variety of other cuts are popular and often incorporated into our designs.
Years ago, my mother gave me the gold from her wedding band, my great aunt's and my grandmother's. Galatea turned gold from three important women in my life into a beautiful pendant, which reminds me of the Three Graces. I will always cherish this piece and what it represents. These women are now a memory, but I can keep them close when wearing it.

We went to Diamonds Direct to see what style of ring my girlfriend would want, and the sales staff was very pushy. They brought out stones and ring styles that we said we did not want and were way out of our budget we gave them. Stores like this are going to try and sell you the most expensive ring possible, instead of what you want. Galatea on the other hand, looked at our design that we wanted, was able to make it for $1,000 under my budget, and it is so beautiful. Vision of my wedding band (with the art skills of a toddler.. ) and she brought my vision to life! She is like having a relative in the jewelry business.
