In Florence, Italy, she obtained a degree for Interior Design. In New York, she acquired a degree concentrated in Display and Exhibit Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology. Alkalay then expanded her knowledge at New York University by earning a degree in Fine Arts Appraisal. Alkalay launched and established her art consulting firm known as SmArtArt Inc. in Deerfield, Florida in 2002.
