Services
Teachers, administrators, parents, and the community share the responsibility for advancing the school's mission. Students learn in different ways and should be provided with a variety of instructional approaches to support their learning. The commitment to continuous improvements is imperative if our school is going to enable students to become confident, self-directed, lifelong learners.
Captain Shreve High School was opened in the fall of 1967. The school was named for Captain Henry Miller Shreve, who was responsible for clearing the log jam on the Red River, which led to the founding of Shreveport in 1835. Captain Shreve is one of the largest high schools in Shreveport with an enrollment of over 1,500 students.

Shreve is a great school if you're a star on the football team or if you're in the higher classes. Other than that...not so much especially if you're a black man

My experience at Shreve has been one of growth. I entered freshman year knowing only 3 people, yet will graduate with friends that will last a lifetime. Shreve not only helped me meet lifelong friends, but also helped me to grow academically. I have had some of the best teachers in caddo parish teach me. Definitely recommend Shreve!

Captain Shreve has already made me feel at home ! I will be entering as a freshman this year. Even though school has not yet started I have been showed that the four years I spend at Shreve will be the best years of my life. I am going to be in the Liberal Arts magnet program and I am eager to learn from the sweet and caring faulty members at the SWAMP! I CAN'T WAIT TO BE A GATOR !

Im a graduating senior this year (2014). I transferred my sophomore and have loved it every since. Just to respond to a few of the false reviews i've seen. The teachers are definitely not sub-par we have teachers nationally certified to teach in college. Some of our teachers even help grade national test like the ACT and SAT. There are no metal detectors here it's one of the safest school environments you can attend. I have not experienced one incident of racism the teachers are fair and the administration is fair. This is probably the most school in terms of social life that i have seen. White
