Custom wood furniture made by furniture maker Satoshi Yamauchi in Honolulu, Hawaiii. Satoshi is a passionate and meticulous artisan whose state-of-the-art furniture is one of the finest on Oahu. He works with koa, monkeypod and other beautiful wood such as walnut. Satoshi Yamauchi brings his 20+ years of experience in Japanese woodworking to his furniture design and build.
The word live edge refers to a cut of wood that has the natural edge of the tree, which is the outer part of the tree. Live edge slabs have curvy edges as opposed to straight edge lumber. Straight edge tables are made out of dimensional lumber. Each project is unique and the time it requires to build will vary based on the detail and complexity of the project.

I worked with Marcia and Satoshi on an office project for a client in downtown Honolulu. They did an outstanding job of transforming the the existing 80's laminate counter tops into live-edge monkeypod counterparts. Marcia was extremely helpful, very easy to communicate with, and I couldn't be more pleased! I would highly recommend Satoshi Yamauchi Woodworks for any custom woodworking job!

Satoshi and his wife Marcia were able to take my rough, hand-drawn sketch for a tv console with shelf and matching desk, and translate it to an elegant, timeless piece of furniture that turned our fragmented living room into a seamless space.
It is not only the impeccable craftsmanship that we will continue to enjoy every day, but it was great fun working with them to conceptualize and agree on a final design. I didn't have unlimited budget, and Marcia was able to help me determine where we could lower costs without sacrificing quality.

We recently renovated our kitchen and dining areas. We were searching for a new dining table that would match the new wood flooring and decor. After looking at the many dining tables at all the local furniture companies, we found only veneer table tops that felt cheap. I could not find a solid hardwood table that would fit the new dimensions of the new dining area and could comfortably accommodate eight people. Best furniture maker in Honolulu! Impeccable craftsmanship. I have two wood furniture pieces made by Satoshi and I’m already thinking of commissioning more work. It was a long wait but well worth the wait. My monkey pod dining table is lovely and all my visitors comment on how beautiful it is! Thank you Satoshi and Marcia for your commitment to excellence! He produces the highest quality and most beautifully made custom pieces I have seen and he makes each piece exactly to his clients' specifications. The pieces are of the utmost quality and craftsmanship. I expect our pieces will last a lifetime and beyond.
