Our mission has always been to serve our musical artists but for the time being, DIVE is closed to the public. We are following all recommendations provided by health and government agencies and encourage others to do so as well. DIVE is the manifestation and celebration of our own rock history through the musicians who played at this location over the past 50 years as well as our future musical guests.
We cordially invite you to become part of our music history by dropping in on an open mic or reaching out for a performance on your own. Located in the basement of Darlington House, and formerly The Childe Harold, DIVE serves as a place for musicians to put forth their artistry throughout the week.

Services
DIVE is located within the Darlington House which hosted such amazing music icons as Al Green, Bruce Springsteen, Bonnie Raitt, the Slikee Boys, Emmylou Harris and the Ramones when it was the Childe Harold. This was the first place the Ramones played in Washington DC in 1976 and Bruce's 3 night gig in 1973 for $750 represents just one of the many artists that either began their career or had an early start at this address.
DIVE is located in the basement of Darlington House at 1610 20th St. N.W., Washington DC 20009. Currently closed it was accessible by walking 100 feet north from the METRO red line Dupont Circle North exit and even easier by Uber or Lyft. Performances by musical artists are currently on hold, check our events page for dates and times.

I love this bar! It's fairly small inside, but it's great. The decor is really fun - guitars on the walls, fun facts about musicians. The food and drinks are on the more expensive side. I haven't been for a concert, but it would definitely be a small and intimate venue. Trivia on Wednesday nights is the best!

Came to Dive for a solid 4 hours since the start of happy hour and the service is fantastic. Danesy, our server/bartender brought us our drinks quickly the entire duration of our visit and was quick to memorize all our orders even with special requests for each drink, Which was highly impressive considering how busy it was. I'll definitely come back to dive for the great service, great drinks and live music.

I received my bill at the end of the night for $74.80 when I only had 5 beers so I knew this was incorrect. The bartender, Caleb, adjusted it to $54 which seemed more accurate. I left a $10 tip in cash because I was not asked to sign a receipt therefore no ability to tip on the card. Next thing I know the following day I have a $95 charge on my account??? Two other people that night were complaining to the bartender for incorrect charges as well.

They are called Dive and have divey ambiance, but sadly with high end prices. The beers are more expensive than most other bars, including $6 bud light and $10 well drinks. Yikes. They do have cool exposed brick walls and live music, but it's not worth it. Also the area by the stage is narrow and full of tables, making it uncomfortable to grab a drink and watch the show.

DIVE. Dive into this place, y'all! First of all, its all about the experience, right? From the moment you walk inside this place, time just stops and you are plugged into live music, traveling bands making a pit stop, or even an ever popular open mic night. The staff is awesome and friendly and extremely knowledgeable. They even let you play the electric guitars that are on the wall....Wait, WHAT! The music artist photography on the wall is phenomenal. There is not just great live music and wall art--The food! The food! OMG, every dish I had here was out of this world. If you are a carbanara fan

I stopped in on St Paddy's day late afternoon. The wait staff (Josh) was very friendly and have me some history of place. I had the hickory burger with fries and it was VERY good. Just a nicely cooked flavorful burger. They do play live music but had a DJ spinning real rock records. I think it is a very nice place to stop in and try.

This place is enjoyable and the bartender Russell is great, but their prices are pretty crazy. $14 for a bacon cheeseburger is no problem, but $48 bucks for 4 shots of Dewar's (a double and two scotch and sodas)? That's crazy. The food is great but 4 drinks of Dewar's should never cost $48 bucks.
The staff was really nice and the band (The Periwinkles) was awesome but the prices were just a bit high for drinks. I would come back here for great food, great music, but only drinks during happy hour.

Great atmosphere. The menus are pretty cool, foods not bad. That's about all there is to this place, the drinks are weak for over $10 a cocktail. The service can't make out what you say, and you probably won't get what you asked for the first time. But there was no wait on a Thursday night in DC. So go at your own risk and bring a couple extra bills.

I went there tonight for Happy Hour. Food was excellent and drinks were well-priced ($4 beer, $5 rail drinks, $6 wine, $6 appetizers). The vibe was pretty laid back and we enjoyed open mic night where you could choose a guitar from the wall and play it (I don't play but my friend said they are nice guitars). I'll be happy to go back!

An environment dedicated to the musicians that played in the space years ago, DIVE is a bar, lounge and intimate performance space for musicians on open mic night. Club goers on weekends will find a place where you can chill, dine and just hang out in a cool atmosphere. DJ on Friday and Saturday with plans for other nights of the week, anyone who appreciates a bar where you can check out beautiful guitars and actually play them on open mic nights will totally dig it.
