Jessica Kim and her practice are great! Having previously worked in dermatology, I know what makes a good dermatologist, and Dr. Kim exceeded my expectations. Her front office is well organized and very friendly. Dr. Kim is punctua, thorough, friendly and took her time explaining everything to me. I ended up needing 2 biopsies, and she was able to do them at the same appointment, and they were both virtually painless.
The last point is key! Skin cancer can be treated safely and quickly with early detection. That is why yearly skin checks are critical. Even every 6 months if you spend a lot of time in the sun or notice any unusual moles or spots on your skin or have a history of skin cancer.
Also, protecting yourself from the sun is the first line of defense: sunscreen (broad spectrum and SPF 30 or higher), reapplying sunscreen at least every 2 hours when outside, hats, long clothing to cover the skin (when possible).These are all things you can do to minimize sun exposure and your risk of developing skin cancer.

Pre-cancers on the skin or Actinic Keratosis are extremely common lesions. They most commonly appear on the head and arms as a result of chronic sun exposure. Basal cell carcinoma is the most common cancer in humans. People with a history of multiple sunburns and those living in sunny climates, such as Mission Viejo in Orange County, have a higher risk of developing basal cell carcinoma than those living in other areas. When diagnosed early and treated appropriately, the outcome is excellent.
Atypical moles/dysplastic nevi are unusual looking moles with concerning features when looked at closely. I make it a point to do a skin cancer screening every year, and I have been a little overdue as I just came back from out of the area. I didn't have a local dermatologist picked out here, but luckily found GCD and Dr. Kim.
It's always a little nerve-wracking for me going to a new doctor, but I was very happy with overall experience. It was really nice and easy to text the number and set up an appointment -- I even texted on a Saturday when they're closed, and I was surprised they texted back, same day! Must have been an after-hours service as it was definitely a person that responded.

The best Dermotology office ever! I highly recommend Golden Coast Dermotology! I was so amazed at what a beautiful office they have! Dr Tidwell was so generous and kind to me! His chair side manner was so gracious! I can’t say enough good about him and his wonderful staff! I look forward to going back and getting more help for my skin.

I had an odd and unusual growth on my face that I knew I needed to get checked out. I’d never been to a dermatologist before but felt encouraged by all of Dr. Tidwell’s positive reviews. Love this office. Dr. Tidwell is amazing, professional, extremely knowledgeable and SO helpful. I had concerns regarding my scars due to accidents and not only did he treat me within 30 minutes but he also made recommendations for future treatments. I have never visited a doctors office where I was in and out and treated and happy within less than 45 minutes. I definitely recommend Dr. Tidwell. He is awesome! Thank you Golden Coast.

Dr Tidwell is highly professional, conscientious and skilled. He performed Mohs surgery on me and kept the process as painless as possible while making sure every last cancer cell was eradicated. I confidently recommend him to my friends for their dermatology needs. His office staff is upbeat and competent. The ambience in the office is classy and calming.

I went into Dr. Tidwell's office to get a new mole looked at. I had been paranoid for a few days beforehand, and he quickly took a look and removed it in the same appointment so that I wouldn't have to worry about it.
The biopsy came back as benign and it was thankfully just strange looking blood blister.
I also have a rubber accelerator contact allergy which can prove to be troublesome when going to get examined by doctors, but Dr. Tidwell was very adaptable and worked around my situation!
The office staff were very kind as well, and got me a very early appointment.

Dr. Tidwell and staff are as great as the reviews say.
I did my research here on Golden Coast Dermatology prior to making an appointment, and liked what I read. Thus, I want to contribute to the 5 stars this organization deserves and write my own glowing review.
I've just completed my second visit, and have seen improvements in my complexion both times. I initially went in for some age related dark spots which the brightening pads have lightened quite a bit. I was very excited about that and hope progress continues on that front.
Today I had a little red spot on my cheek which was annoying and

Dr. Tidwell and his staff are wonderful. I was able to schedule an appointment right away and no waiting around. The office has covid protocols which made me feel safe and comfortable.
Dr. Tidwell is funny and made me feel at ease. His staffs are friendly and accommodating. If you are looking for Dermatologist, I highly recommend Golden Coast.

My husband and I had a great experience at Golden Coast Dermatology. I had a spot checked on my scalp that I have been extremely anxious about for a long time and finally decided to get it examined.
