Services
Applicants are required to complete a pet screening for each of their pets or service/companion animals prior to final application approval. Pet screenings are $20 for the first pet and $15 for additional pets paid directly to the third-party service. Verified service/support animal registration is free.
Proof of Renter's Insurance that contains at least $100,000 in liability coverage will be required prior to application approval. Why is liability insurance required? Satisfying your insurance requirement is the first step in protecting yourself financially. As a resident you are responsible for any damage you cause to your unit.
It is important to us that our community offers a welcoming and safe environment to all of our residents. To help ensure our residents understand our pet and animal-related policies we require everyone to complete a third-party screening and review process. This process ensures we have formalized pet and animal-related policy acknowledgments and more accurate records to create greater mutual accountability.

Staff is excellent
Corporate is criminal, check your lease when you renew, BEFORE you sign, mine turned into a 13mnth lease in my last year.
rent has increased 560% in less then a year, in the middle of the pandemic, to cash in on families moving to South dakota from California.
Current rent is disproportionate to local wages, now is not a good time to rent there.

We recently bought a home but wish to thank the staff of Candlewood Apartments. We lived there from 2007-2019 and have nothing but good things to say about our experience living there. Phil and Lynn always addressed any issues we brought to their attention immediately. They are both pleasant and professional . I would definitely recommend Candlewood Apartments to any one looking for a safe, affordable, well managed and maintained place to live in Rapid City.

I've enjoyed living at Candlewood over the past few years. My main two qualms had to do with the rent prices and parking availability. The rent prices steadily increased to the point where it stretched the limits of my budget. It was reasonable when I first moved in, but it quickly turning into a money sink. While the price is competitive overall compared to the rest of Rapid City, It was still incredibly disappointing to see the rent bill jump up in increments of 50.00+ each time I signed the new year's lease (after several years of faithful payments being made on time). I understand the business

Was charged a late fee for a problem with their computer system. Asked to have it removed, and staff wouldn't listen to what I was saying despite never having a problem paying on time in over a year of living at these apartments. There is nothing special about these apartments and the way I was treated will ensure that I look for somewhere else to live immediately.

I lived at Candlewood from 1981 until 1987. Our apartment, grounds, and pool were very well kept. The most important amenity to me was the pool. That is of utmost importance to teenagers! We were happy there. Our building was in the very back and was quiet. Another great thing was that there was so much space to play soccer which I did on a regular basis with my cousin and friends.
