Maryann Potter, owner of Simply Beautiful Cakes, grew up in a country town in the pacific NW in Oregon. As early as High School age, she developed a deep desire to bake and decorate cakes. Taking beginning cake lessons soon turned into a life long passion for her. She began baking cakes and decorating cakes for friends and family and then for her own children.
Maryann moved to Newberg, Or in 1997 with her husband and children and calls Newberg her home. This has been going on now for 40 years. Maryann makes her own sugar flowers for her cakes handmade and very special and specific for each cake. She loves to show off her artistry and talent by telling "your" story on a cake by creating and hand making the pieces that make it come alive and to make it truly "your" story.

Standard cake flavors include: Chocolate, Vanilla (white), and lemon twist, pink Champagne, red velvet. Standard fillings include: butter cream, cream cheese, lemon, Bavarian cream, Chocolate Bavarian cream, Raspberry, Raspberry cream, Black berry, Strawberry, Pineapple, Cherry and Ganache. Cakes in any standard shape includes: icing, borders, flowers, greeting or written message, Edible images and cake toppers are extra.
All " basic" sheet cakes and rounds include simple basic flowers, borders, writing, in Swiss buttercream customer provides toy or topper. Cake flavors include: Triple Chocolate, Vanilla (White), Red Velvet, Lemon twist, Banana, Carrot and Pink Champagne. Fillings include: Butter Cream, Chocolate Buttercream, Lemon, Bavarian Cream, Chocolate Bavarian Cream, Raspberry, Raspberry Cream, Strawberry, Blackberry, Chocolate Ganache and Cream Cheese.

Maryann was so wonderful to work with. We went ahead and did a cake tasting to decide on what flavors we would want for our two tier wedding cake and she made three full on double decker mini cakes with various fillings for us to sample. They were all super tasty so it was difficult to decide, but in the end we went with a tier of red velvet with cream cheese frosting inside and a layer of pink champagne with butter cream frosting. I wanted a semi-naked cake, which she was easily able to do and she kindly took care of arranging the flowers on the cake and putting my cake topper on for me at the

Maryann did a beautiful job on our daughter's 5th birthday cake! We were visiting from Reno and called last minute looking for someone who would make the day special for her. Maryann was so accommodating, knew exactly what we were looking for and had the cake ready for us early the next day. My daughter couldn't stop looking at the gorgeous roses, sparkles and confetti. It was just the thing to make her day perfect!

We were visiting Willamette Valley to celebrate my husband's birthday. I reached out to Maryann via email with a request to make a birthday cake. I had looked at her website and decided on a pink champagne cake with raspberry cream cheese filling. She was very creative in her decorations. I simply gave her a theme of 'wine' and she came up with a fun cake that incorporated a fondant wine bottle and wine glass. Everybody in our group said the cake was light, moist and delicious, and I concur!
