Born and raised in New York, I received my bachelor's degree in psychology and biology from Rutgers University and my medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (now known as The Rutgers New Jersey Medical School). I have worked in psychiatric emergency rooms, on both voluntary and involuntary psychiatric units, in outpatient clinics, on assertive community treatment teams, and as a hospital consultant on medical, surgical, and intensive care units.
Working primarily in academic centers, I dedicated myself to the teaching and training of medical students and residents from a variety of specialties including psychiatry, internal medicine, family medicine, and surgery.I am currently a member of the Academy of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry and have been recognized as one of New Jersey's Best in Medicine by the American Health Council.

Services
Currently my services are out of network. Payment is due at the time of the encounter. Cash and credit cards are accepted. Reimbursement for my services can be requested from your insurance company provided that a bill for service is submitted. Bills are generated upon patient request. I ask that my returning patients let me know about a cancellation at least one day in advance.

By far the single best doctor I've encountered in my 59 years on this planet. He is thorough, empathetic and will spend the necessary time with you. As a patient for over a year now I have referred many individuals to him. I've also let me other physicians know so they can refer him as well. I don't normally post reviews on this site but he's just that good.

In the years that I’ve worked with medical professionals I’ve never seen anyone as passionate and knowledgeable as Dr. Capote. I’ve only worked with Dr. Capote for couple months but it didn’t take me long to witness the effort that he puts into assuring his patients have what they need to be successful and healthy. I can attest to this since I was one of this patients. Dr. Capote is literally one of the best psychiatrists I’ve ever worked with and I highly recommend him to anyone! ~ Shayan

Dr. Capote is an excellent psychiatrist, period. He is extremely knowledgeable and well-trained, particularly in the intersection of medical conditions and mental health. But most of all, he is passionate and a great listener for his patients. As a psychiatrist myself, I have worked with him and would not hesitate to refer clients to him, if I myself am booked up. He also works well with other LCSWs and psychologists, and is devoted to the north New Jersey area. He is a role model for other mental health professionals.
