My mom was recently admitted to Oakview in skilled nursing. When it came time to celebrate my dad's 96th birthday, we worried about how to make it special and include my mom. The Oakview director, Jeannette, arranged for a delicious surf and turf luncheon on their beautiful patio to help us celebrate a special day during a difficult time. Our waitress, Patty, did a fantastic job making sure we had everything we needed. Oliver handled much of the communication with us beforehand and then checked in during lunch to take a family picture. After the delicious caramel cheesecake dessert, Marvin, the

My 94 year old mom went into Oakview's skilled nursing from UVTO Independent Living following a surgery. Her care was extraordinary, from the excellent nursing staff to the enthusiastic and skilled therapy staffs. We thought she would be heading back to her apartment. This was not to be, sadly. She took a downturn and left us quickly after that. The nursing staff saw her, and us as her family, thru this difficult time with extreme kindness and care. There were many exceptional moments, and we are grateful to each individual involved in her care. Many people whose names I never knew, but Manny,

Absolutely Wonderful Staff and Facility!!!
Both my Mom and Dad have spent time at the Skilled Nursing portion of the facility and I absolutely cannot say enough about how well the facility is run. The staff are truly caring and compassionate about their patients/guests and the facility is top notch with a nice warm comfortable feel. Highly recommended!!

My husband has been in Oakview for quite a while, and we could not be more pleased with his care. As a family, we all worry about our loved ones, and the professional, sensitive and caring approach the entire staff at Oakview has, has helped so much. We cannot say enough about them, and highly recommend them. A special thank you to Maria Tang, Director of Nursing, the RN's, CNA's, Therapists and staff.

This is the absolute worst place to put your loved one. I went there to visit a friend who was having such a hard time and she complained about all the problems that were hidden and ignored
They have a weak management and many problems here. They charge over $10,000 a month just to rent a small room
There is never any management on at night and the staff run willy-nilly and do as they please
They just take advantage of loved ones By overcharging them for every little thing.
If you need any extra special accommodations it's always a charge. If you want the best check out other options. Sage

My father spent a month at Oakview following a difficult surgery. I don't have enough kind words to share about what a wonderful experience it was.
The nurses and CNAs were pleasant and helpful. The cafeteria had its work cut out for my picky eater and were always happy to make adjustments for him. The administrative staff was informative and available whenever we had questions. He received PT and OT. They were encouraging and kind as he attempted to regain his strength and return home. I haven't stopped telling my friends about how lucky we were to get him a spot at Oakview. They made

My mother had been a resident of both the Assisted Living and the Skilled Nursing Facility at Oakview, following 11 wonderful years of independent living at University Village Thousand Oaks. I cannot find adequate words to describe how phenomenal Oakview is in every way. It is a beautiful, homelike atmosphere, and both the leadership and the staff are the most compassionate, loving, talented, and capable group of people I have ever encountered. I would like to name each of the terrific people who have lovingly helped my mom and supported my family, but I would basically have to name every person

My mom has been there for about a week. Staff is FRIENDLY, with beautiful accommodations. Contrary to another reviewer, I ate lunch with my mom today and the food was great! The food charge for guests was $7.50 for fish (cod), soup, salad, veggies and apple pie!
PT and OT have been fantastic, getting mom ready to return to her own home.

I was very apprehensive when my folks moved over from University Village last October, but my parents acclimated almost immediately and are happy as can be! And my stress level and peace of mind are markedly improved, especially given that I live on the East coast.
I can trust that the staff and director of Oakview truly have my parents’ best interests at heart, and I can count on them to be proactive and communicate with me if necessary.

My mother has been at Oakview since Fall 2015 when it became apparent that she needed skilled nursing services. For three years now she has been surrounded by angels who entertain her, exercise her, feed her delicious and nutritious food, clothe and bathe her, wash her clothes, provide her needed medication, support her family members, navigate her delusions, calm her confusion, and provide loving and warm reassurances all day (and sometimes all night) long. Given the number of people it takes, it is incomprehensible that even a handful of loving family members could come close to this gentle

Although it is nice to have the assisted living available for my mother. I would like to address some of the things I have witnessed here.
I will give some pluses to this facility though; one being the serving staff. I have come many times to visit my mother during breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast in the assisted living is interesting. They have one server serving all the residents which must be overwhelming for them, but service is always great. I would like to point out two of my favorite servers who my mother and I both seem to love; Marcelo and Natalie. I have only seen Marcelo during

I really have to question all these "one star" reviews. I did not see nor experience any of the complaints lodged here in Yelp and I can be very vocal, yet calmly stating my concerns as you'll see in my other reviews. It really makes me think these other reviews are "moles."
Oakview is well run by caring and highly trained professional people. Staffers have earpieces on and are in constant communication which each other.
The nurses, PT, OT, nutrition and the overall experience is one of the best. I could not find anything to mention and have nothing but compliments to

I have had dined many times with my mother at the Oakview Assisted Living dining room and finally felt compelled to comment on just how horrible the food is. My last meal there was a ham and cheese panini that was supposed to have a mustard aioli condiment. It was two slices of bread (one of which was the heel of the loaf), two wafer thin slices of ham and processed cheese slices, the kind that come in individually wrapped packets. How is that nutritional? There's so much salt and preservatives in that type of cheese and it really isn't cheese anyway, is it? The aioli was nothing

If you want your elderly relative to be in danger, this IS the place! This place is supposed to be a top notch nursing home (SNF). I shudder to think what the others are like? I have heard so many stories of horror...yet these elderly people, nor do their family take the time to contact an ombudsman or state representative, so people know what this place is really like! Many of these elderly people have no ability to make phone calls, or even write!

I am so sorry that I had to bring my mom here. It is noisier than a circus. People screaming for the police, bingo right outside the room, roommate blasting TV. So disgusting.
If you love your parent and they appreciate the peace of silence, reconsider where you take your loved one.
I figured after telling staff about the noise, I would come back and visit. They are absolutely clueless. It was still so loud with the neighbors tv. Just use closed caption if you really can't hear.

I worked here in the activities Department at the Health Center a few years ago and really enjoyed it. The residents are so sweet and the facility is really nice and modern. The management really try to provide a nice living environment for the residents and the staff really truly cares about the residents that live here. It's a great environment to work in, and live if you have that opportunity.

My father spent his last years at Oakview, and I can only say that we were very satisfied with the experience. Yes, it is expensive, but all of these facilities are, thanks to our country's sorry health care system. Bottom line, we couldn't find another place that compared to Oakview. The staff was both attentive and kind, so much so that I remain in touch with a few of the amazing people who cared for my dad. I'm thankful to have had them in his corner.

I was in the rehab at oak view after I had a run in with my rooster, breaking my hip and femur. The care here was five star. The staff was very helpful and sympathetic. The physical therapist we're excellent.
My family and friends would come with dinner and we would sit in one of the lovely patios with the fountains keeping us cool. My husband even brought our dog, Thoreau, and he was welcomed by everyone.
I highly recommend Oak view for assisted living.

Honestly I completely agree with the first post. And I've seen first hand the negligence of the so called care givers here. I've also been told that skilled nursing residents have been left unattended due to the nurses being on their cell phones rather than checking on the residents. I feel that the state should check up on the nurses and the kitchens.

They are always short handed on CNA's, so your loved one can wait for a long time to be assisted which can be dangerous and when someone shows up they are in a rush. All they need to do is hire more people. One good thing is that the place is clean
