I have been photographing weddings for 20 years. Wow, time flies! I love what I do and feel blessed that I actually get paid to do it. I started out as an art major in college and once I discovered the magic of the darkroom, I was hooked and made photography my concentration. I photographed my first wedding in 1994 with a medium format Bronica camera using rolls of film that only had 15 or 30 frames per roll.
You can only imagine how often I had to change rolls. The digital era changed everything for photographers. It was a huge learning curve but so worth it. I have always photographed weddings in a "photojournalistic" style and was one of the first to do so. Some of my images on my website were shot with film.

John and I were thrilled to have Shawn as our photographer for our special day. Shawn had photographed our friend's wedding and we were blown away by her work. When she agreed to photograph our wedding we knew we were in good hands.
Shawn's knowledge and skills were apparent all throughout our wedding day. She got all of the shots we could have wanted and more! Her ability to capture intimate moments while using background landscapes as compliments was impressive.

We interviewed several photographers who specialize in a photojournalist style for our wedding before hiring Shawn and ultimately went with her because we liked her online albums (minimal editing because the photos speak for themselves!), and her prices were quite competitive. She was also willing to travel to our venue, and lived conveniently close by for meetings! She moved to Durham from the NE (where she still books a lot of events), but told us she was trying to transfer a lot of her gigs to this area. I think we were only the third couple she shot in the Triangle.
