Nutley Little Theatre
Nutley Little Theatre's history reaches back to the early thirties when a group of men, connected with the Grace Episcopal Church, organized an amateur theatrical group called the Parish Players. Two of the members decided to expand their idea to a town-wide theatre group, so in 1934, Nutley Little Theatre began its career.

Our present "home, " The Barn on Erie Place, a former jam factory, was available for rental and members decided it was necessary to have a place to construct and store sets. Nutley Little Theatre rented the barn from 1935 to 1938 and officially purchased it in 1938. In order to inform members of activities, a theatre newsletter was created.

Synopsis: A young girl writes a letter to the editor of the New York Sun. Dear Editor, I am eight years old. Some of my little friends say there is no Santa Claus. Papa says if you see it in the Sun, it's so. Please tell me the truth. Is there a Santa Claus? Ed Mitchell, the editor, assigns Frank Church-a reporter on the verge of self destruction-the task of answering Virginia's question.
For over fifteen years, NLT's Readers' Theatre has presented free events where actors read from a variety of classic and contemporary works. Originally developed by one of our area's directors, Penny Potenz Winship, each play is carefully chosen to offer actors a creative challenge and the audience a creative experience.
Annual membership is a very reasonable $15 per person or $20 per couple. You will enjoy the benefits of receiving the Prompter, the NLT newsletter announcing updates, opportunities and audition dates. You will also enjoy being part of our general meetings and mingle with local theatre goers who appreciate the best the stage has to offer.
No shows are non-refundable. NLT will not "resell" a no show ticket. We do reserve the right to sell no show "comp" tickets 10 minutes prior to curtain (7.50 pm evening or 1.50 pm matinee). A group of 10 or more? Make a night of it and save 10% on all tickets for that performance. To receive the Theatre Party Discount, order tickets at least two weeks before opening night by calling the general box office phone number at 973.667.0374.
Nutley Little Theatre was formed in 1934, and has been operating and performing continuously ever since, making us one of New Jersey's oldest community theater groups. A not-for-profit organization staffed entirely by volunteers, Nutley Little Theatre is committed to providing excellence in drama and stagecraft and to serving as a cultural center in the Northern New Jersey area.

Saw a play reading there. The play was good, but the chairs were uncomfortable and the theater was very hot.

Cute place. Feels homey and warm coz it's not a huge place and you won't feel lost. It's kind of personal and the actors seems like really talking to you, since they are within reach. :) Enjoyed my first time especially with my niece's performance!! :)

If you have nothing better to do for a couple of hours, and you don't mind off, off, off Broadway theater, this may be for you.
The prices are reasonable enough for community theater. They do offer a discount for students and seniors.
The theater volunteers, crew, ushers and staff are friendly for the most part.
There are only 6 parking spaces on the property if you get there early enough. If not, you have free parking 2 blocks away on the street or in a parking lot.
There is a limited variety of snacks and beverages available for a $1. donation per item.
Out of the 5 main stage productions

Friendly theater that has been a community fixture for 80 years. Tucked away on a residential street but worth seeking out.
