Services
Kadampa Meditation Center Chicago is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization dedicated to sharing the practical wisdom of Buddha's teachings with everyone in the Chicago area through meditation and mindfulness practices. We offer an array of drop-in classes, weekend events, and retreats open to everyone and suitable for all levels of experience.
All of our live classes, on-demand classes, special events, and meditation retreats are open to newcomers. Each includes guided meditation, practical instruction, and the chance to ask questions in real time (except with on-demand classes). Almost any class or event is a great way to begin. Choose one that works with your schedule, or on a topic that interests you.
The schedule repeats weekly. Feel free to drop in to any class that fits your schedule, whenever it works for you. All include guided meditation and practical instruction, and most include the chance to ask questions (either in-person or via interactive live-stream Q&A). No one is turned away for lack of funds.
Each class includes practical explanation and instruction, and fully guided meditation. Rent any class for 72-hours and meditate with it as many times as you like during that period. Your mind has boundless peace and clarity within -- just waiting to be discovered underneath all the mental busy-ness.
General Program (GP) classes present Buddhist teachings in a format that is suitable for beginners as well as more experienced practitioners. The format allows students to attend on a schedule that suits them. Through these classes everyone can learn how to apply Buddhist teachings to everyday life, using them to solve problems, and find peace and happiness.

I attended a workshop here and am so incredibly glad that I did. If you want to learn more about meditation and Buddhism, foster a positive sense of self, and be a part of a compassionate and loving community then this is the place for you. I already cannot wait to return. The best thing you can do for yourself is walk through the front door of this place.

It's easy to miss walking past, but this little gem of a place is like a pocket of peacefulness in a super busy and lively part of town. Everyone is super friendly, and they seem to go out of their way to make new-comers comfortable. The space itself is small, but very peaceful -- just big enough for the classes they do, plus a hangout area and a small shop area with meditation essentials. The classes are always really practical and easy to understand. The teachers make a point of connecting things to everyday situations, often with a warm sense of humor, so that my time there helps out for days

It was a delight to discover the center. I started with one small program and that quickly built up to going several times a week. I'm more calm and clear (and keeps getting better). Things that use to disturb me seem minor or often become positive in that they present opportunities to be more peaceful. The teachings are simple and yet profound. Easy to understand. And Gen Dorje's humor, good heart, and wonderful stories add to the whole experience. I love it there.
