Born in Staten Island, NY, and raised in Portland, Oregon, I am a mover and a shaker, a fiercely devoted friend, and a travel addict, with a lifelong love of documenting people just as they are. I briefly attended art school in NYC, but returned to the Pacific Northwest (despite hating the rain) to study criminal justice and work in the criminal defense world.

I find that children are most comfortable (ie most likely to show me their true selves) at home, and I love the idea of our children having photos of themselves in the home they grew up in.
Posy co-founded The Family Narrative in 2017 with Kate Thompson and Annemie Tonken. The Family Narrative is a community of family photographers offering education, inspiration, and annual retreats as well as a year-round online community guided by industry leaders, called TFN Together. Run your (family photography) business instead of letting it run you!
If, however, you would like a family session before December, I'm sorry to say I am solidly booked. I realize some people prefer email, but please hear me out (literally). I LOVED the shots I got with Posy while visiting Portland earlier this year. I was rebranding myself professionally, and needed profile and marketing photos that felt authentic and had personality. She really listened to what I was after, and gave great suggestions for locations, poses, staging, etc to get my message across. Plus she was just fun to work with, which made it so much easier to capture genuine expressions and natural looking photos. Highly recommend.

I worked with Posy while modeling (I’m not an actual model) for a local boutique’s ads. I was struck by her talent at catching just the right angles, expressions, and light. Not only did she make me feel photogenic with her welcoming and calming demeanor, but she captured a beauty I didn’t know I had. It was actually FUN to get my picture taken! Since then, she’s documented very special milestones for my husband and me. I wouldn’t go to anyone else for capturing both special and beautifully mundane moments.

Words cannot even describe the awesomeness that is Posy. Our photoshoot was more like a fun hang out (she made everyone in the family feel comfortable) and at the end of it she handed over the most gorgeous set of photography/art I could ever imagine. Our girls were a little crazy, Posy encouraged them to be themselves and did such a good job capturing their wild spirit. I will treasure the photos she took forever. Posy is hands down the BEST.

Nearly 10 years ago I was pregnant with my first child and fell in love with Posy's work online. I knew I wanted her to photograph our baby girl, but my husband (who was admittedly pretty clueless about the price of professional photography) had reservations about the cost. We made a deal that we would book Posy and if he didn't think the resulting pictures were "worth it," we would find a cheaper option in the future. Needless to say, when they came in we were both blown away and immediately booked her again for 6 month photos!

I had been a fan of Posy's work for many years. And this year, while on vacation with my family, I was able to schedule a session with Posy and was beyond THRILLED with the experience.
From beginning to end, Posy made the session a highlight of our vacation. I felt prepared and ready and at no point did the photo session become another thing on our "to-do" list, but was something my entire family looked forward to. My oldest daughter STILL talks about Posy and her "fancy" hair. :) To say that she made the effort and succeeded in connecting with my family - kids, husband, friends...is an understatement

Photos of your family is an investment, no doubt - but never once have I thought, "That was a waste." When it comes to capturing the essence of your family, your kids and your life, there's no one better than Posy. Posy first photographed my kids at their one-year old birthday party and blessing ceremony. She convinced me that the "stand and pose pictures" I thought I wanted wouldn't be as awesome as capturing real moments throughout the afternoon. She was right, of course. I've known Posy for three years and in that time I've found her to be not only hilarious and fun to be around, but also really thoughtful and an exceptional human being. The way that she's able to capture a family is exactly what I've been looking for and so when I discovered she was coming to my city I knew I had to schedule a session with her!!! I've seen Posy interact with all types of people and many different ages, she is comfortable with all and makes everyone feel at ease to be themselves - which is exactly what you want in a photographer. Posy has been photographing our family for the last 5 years, and every time she delivers our photos, I can’t help but cry at how beautiful they are. She has such a way of putting everyone at ease (including my ND, hard to photograph, oldest kiddo), and making sessions FUN, that it never feels difficult or tiring to be in front of her camera. Posy was a dream to work with! She provided a lot of information prior to the session so we knew how to prepare and what to expect. During the session she made us feel comfortable and relaxed and was great with our 6 month old daughter. You can tell that kids love her and that she loves her job. Posy was able to capture many sweet moments during the session. The photos turned out gorgeous and were exactly what we had hoped for. I hope Posy stays in Portland because I want her to take our family photos for years to come!

The thing about hiring Posy to take your family photos is that she doesn't just show up with her camera, shoot some pictures, and leave. She will counsel you on outfit choices for the whole family in the weeks leading up to the shoot, she'll be your kiddo's new best friend, she'll pull incredible images from grouchy baby faces. You will be at ease in front of her camera even if you never have been before, and when your photos come back, you will want every single one printed. Besides all of this, she is just a genuinely lovely human being to interact and work with.
