The Mad Hatter proudly carries and installs custom made chimney caps. Our master metal fabricators have over 30 years of experience fabricating custom heavy-gauge galvanized steel or pure copper chimney caps. Over the years, we have accumulated valuable feedback from masons, builders, chimney sweeps, and homeowners, which has resulted in a product that satisfies virtually any need.
The Mad Hatter has specialized in chimney sweeping and cleaning since 1978. It is the first service that we offered in 1978 and we still continue to hone and improve our service for you. All chimneys should be inspected annually and swept when needed to remove byproducts such as soot and creosote. This will help to prevent flue fires and ensure that dangerous fumes can exit your home.
We offer the full range of repairs to chimney systems, big and small-from repairing leaky flashing to tuckpointing and masonryrepair to relining the flue and chimney rebuilding. No job is too big or too small! Water damage resulting from a missing chimney cap is all too common. We remedy this situation by reconstructing the back walls of fireplaces, returning them to their original pristine condition.

Simple. You cannot trust this company. My older parents were told they needed to reline their chimney and not to use it after ths Mad Hatter cleaned it. So, being responsible, we called out 3 more companies for opinions. 3 other companies first off offered to clean the chimney as they all stated it was not cleaned and upon cleaning they told us everything looked fine except for a few mortar spots in the fire brick in the back of the firebox. The chimney itself looked good via a camera inspection. So, Mad Hatters $20,000 estimate was a bit off.

We just had our gas fireplace installed by Sean and Marcos. It included cleaning our chimney and thorough inspection of chimney including repairs to make sure we don’t burn the house down.

Craig and Derek from the showroom were great to work with through the sales process. I thought I knew what I wanted but it turned out it was too big for my firebox. They helped me find the perfect vented gas log set, burner, and glass doors for my fireplace. Installers arrived 30 minutes early and were very organized. They were clearly very familiar with my specific firebox and all the stuff I ordered. They paid attention to detail and the fireplace looks beautiful as a result. The class that I took at the Mad Hatter was most impressive. The presenter was extremely knowledgeable, pleasant, and informative. Very professional group. We all came away with a great deal of information. The show room with all the outdoor grill and fireplace equipment was a baroque cook's candy store; the most heard comment was "we need to bring our wives back here".

From the time we called the store to schedule a service until the time the technicians left our home we were blown away with the professionalism and craftmanship of this company. I SO badly wanted to like Mad Hatter and do feel that, ultimately, they did DO the work so I am giving two stars (I would have given 1 star there for a few weeks). We went to their showroom over summer 2021 to pick out some upgrades to our double-sided fireplace. The earliest they could come install was mid-October and fine - we would not be using it before then anyway.

I picked Mad Hatter over other companies due to their strong reviews both online and in a local best pics magazine. I have used them on two separate occasions with significant work to two fireplaces and replacement of my chimney hood that was badly rusted and leaking water. Mad Hatter was able to schedule us for a Sunday install this past weekend, the day after we purchased them, so we would have our logs installed by Christmas. Chris was great at helping us select a set (Charred American Oak) and Sean was on time (early!) very professional, SO NEAT! never even could tell he was here. So happy with our gas logs, very realistic looking and warm, seamless experience. Our only regret is that we didn't get them years ago?

The Mad Hatter has an awesome show room! Gas logs, Fireplace screens, Big Green Eggs (of all sizes), Outdoor furniture, etc..... It was a great find for me. I got some gas logs for my fireplace in my new home. They were able to work me in quickly to get them installed. Not only that, but they bumped up my schedule time by 2 hours. Super happy with them! What a difference they make. It's finally starting to feel like home.

I'm not typically one to ever write a review on a business but after a five years of unreliability and lack of customer service I give up. We had brand new logs installed in our home, and we had issues almost immediately. Technicians at that time came out with their summer rates of over $300 plus cost of repair. The same issue over last 5 years, and now they've increased the price of a technician call fi over $400. I'm not going to go into details, because I no longer have the heart or patience. The bottom line is Mad Hatter takes advantage of name recognition and lack of competition

Service was exceptional with our whole process! We bought a new home and within a week were starting to smell gas in our living room. We called GNG initially and then a gas line plumber and tried to problem solve our issue. We had an issue with our valve (and unknowingly lots of other issues) in our gas fireplace, but this is much harder to figure out a solution to than I had originally thought. Had several fireplaces serviced, a set of gas logs replaced, dryer vent cleaned and a fireplace switched to electric because it was set up wrong by a previous contractor. The crew was very professional and showed up on time as promised. We have used Mad Hatter to clean our three chimneys and dyer duct. They have also replaced dryer duct for us when they previous owner had flexible dryer duct installed.
I would highly recommend their services. Throughout the job, they take pictures to show you before and after. They clean up after the job is complete. They are on time to the appointment.
They don't hire contractors to do the job. That was biggest problem with some of the other service providers where you enter your enter the type of job and your zip code, then you are matched someone. Be aware you might be getting
