Presently owned and operated by Erik Gilkey, Davis Wallbridge Inc. was founded in 1922 by Davis Douglas Wallbridge. Mr. Wallbridge had moved from Canada to Solvay NY as a twenty year old construction laborer. After purchasing a small fleet of flat bed trucks, he was contracted through the Crucible Steel Company of America to haul steel from the Solvay Plant.
In the early 1930's Mr. Wallbridge purchased a small roller and dump truck and entered the asphalt paving industry. After completing a tour as a bomber pilot over Germany in World War II and obtaining a civil engineering degree from Syracuse University, son Davis S Wallbridge began working for the company and ultimately took over the reigns in 1953.
