Carolina Ballet is one of America's premier arts organizations, programming traditional ballets by legendary masters and new works by contemporary choreographers. The Ballet was launched as a professional company in 1998 under the direction of Founding Artistic Director Robert Weiss. In 2019, Zalman Raffael became the Artistic Director/CEO joined by Michele Weathers as Executive Director.
School of Carolina Ballet provides rigorous, comprehensive training from beginners to pre-professional. We commit to the well-being of our students personally, technically and artistically by offering classes taught by some of the most knowledgeable professional dancers and ballet masters in the country.
Our summer intensive offers serious dance students extraordinary opportunities to train, rehearse, and perform alongside the professional dancers of Carolina Ballet. Leading dancers from the company will be teaching and rehearsing during the five weeks of the program and dancing in the final performances.
This October, we return to live performances with our new Halloween tradition-The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Artistic Director Zalman Raffael brings Washington Irving's bone-chilling tale to the stage for fans both young and old. Fans of the supernatural will enjoy this program of frights and delights that include Robert Weiss' Lady in the White Veil and The Raven.
The A.J. Fletcher Opera Theater is the epicenter for opera and dance in the North Carolina. This 600-seat theater offers an intimacy perfect for such performances, with the farthest balcony seat less than 70 feet from the stage. The theater is located on the east side of the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts.

Always a great time. Fletcher theater is very nice, without a bad seat in the house. We have been to some really fun and exciting shows, and have seen some amazing performances by the company. The quality of the shows is impressive considering the smallness of Raleigh's market.

Easy to see right off of Atlantic Avenue servicing Raleigh and the adjoining areas of North Carolina. Plenty of parking and a wheelchair accessible entrance. Clean facilities. Public Restrooms. Teaching staff if Top Notch. Summer program is available. Performances and Fletcher Opera House was amazing. We will definitely be going back.

Don't bother! The selections were lovely but the execution was.... lacking. There were not one, but two collisions between dancers the night that I attended, and overall technique was a bit wobbly/out-of-step. Intermissions and pauses were frequent and long: something that I appreciate in a lovely venue to stroll around, but this is not that, and it felt like there was as much waiting around as there was dancing. Definitely not "world-class" as another review ambitiously describes it.

The Carolina Ballet is a cultural treasure for the Triangle. The ballet productions and the company are a true delight. The size and sophistication of Carolina Ballet are surprising for a smaller metro area like Raleigh, and we are very fortunate to have ballet of this high quality in our community. The quality of the productions is superb and I urge you to support them. We have been season subscribers for several years and it is a highlight of our fine arts entertainment in Raleigh.

Get ready to be bombarded by an agressive marketing campaign after going to see just one show. I highly recommend to avoid disclosing any personal information or pay cash at the box office if you do purchase tickets because they will regularly email and call you from private numbers to get you to sign up to be a season ticket holder. I've repeatedly stated to never contact me again yet they continue to do so. Considering I thoroughly enjoyed the ballet I did go to, it was a pleasant evening and the staff behind the scenes and the talent on stage were all wonderful, this is an absolute shame and

My husband and I have been going to the Carolina ballet for the last three years. I started purchasing a three pack for the season for the two of us, which is very reasonable. I have at times been disappointed with the ballet as they dancers had often been out of sync and the chorography repetitive. Don't get me wrong some of there dancers are very beautiful but as a whole it's been a little rough. Still I wanted to support the ballet in NC and hope with the little I provide they would improve. My husband and I agree that Sunday's "Dracula" and “The Masque of the Red Death” has been the best

We are very blessed to have the talent of this company here in Raleigh. Everything from the choreography, costumes, music, and sets are so beautifully done. The dancers are both graceful and so strong. The caliber of the talent in this company is really spectacular.

I have been to 2 performances by the Carolina Ballet now and I would say that I am very impressed with the talent of these productions. Amazing energy and performance. The choreography and emotions displayed by these professionals rivals any I've seen just about anywhere. I will definitely go back and would highly recommend this venue.

I have not written a review before yet, but last nights experience prompted me. The best part was AFTER Cinderella. The pieces that Lilyan and Jan were dancing in were spectacular! The choreography and dancing was sensual and inspired in Lilyan's piece. In Jan's piece, one's mind wandered through the search. The worst part was that at least half the audience left with children, after Cinderella. Please repeat these numbers another time: I would pay to see them again. Thank you for this experience. The Carolina Ballet debuted their 2015/2016 season with Gustav Holst's The Planets, and it was spectacular! I have been wanting to see a ballet by the Carolina Ballet Company since I moving to the Triangle, and after hearing that they would be choreographing The Planets, a symphonic tour de force that is, and I quote, "the repertory of every orchestra in the world and has been the spring board for dances by many choreographers", I knew I HAD to make my move.

After VOCALLY performing for the Neptune piece for the Tulsa Symphony many years ago, The Planets will always have a special

Just saw a production of Gustav Holst "Planets". The company is fantastic. Choreographers are talented. Composition is beautiful. I loved every bit of it. And I love that there is complimentary wine at intermission!

I'll be returning to see their next production.

We are so fortunate to have a world class ballet company in our city and Carolina Ballet makes it easy for everyone to attend. Tips: ticket prices for the Nutcracker vary depending on location. Last year, tickets for the UNC performances much cheaper. Also, look for ticket deals through News & Observer and coupon books - like Go PlaySave, that schools in the city sell.

This year we bought season tickets to the ballet and they were so reasonably priced and worth it! We are very fortunate here in the Raleigh area to have such an incredible ballet. These dancers impress me every time we go- just breathtaking! I highly recommend taking advantage of this cultural experience - and sharing it with your children!
