Sea Basket
Since 1981, the Sea Basket has delighted locals and visitors alike with the finest in Maine seafood. Conveniently located on U.S. Route One in Wiscasset, we're close to wherever you're headed in Midcoast Maine. The Sea Basket is known for great food and generous portions. We make our own coleslaw and onion rings. Our lobster stew is made with local fresh picked tail, claw, & knuckle meat; we NEVER use FROZEN lobster meat.

I realize that a lot of restaurants are short handed, and that the employees are getting burned out, however that does not give them the right to treat a customer like a piece of dirt.

Today, I visited the restaurant, and ordered a full pound lobster roll to go. The older lady that took my order treated me as if I didn't belong there, and treated me as a second class citizen. Plus, when I got home, I saw that I got the 1/2 pound lobster roll, not the full pound I ordered. I was a frequent customer of this restaurant (WAS being the key word). I frequented this restaurant almost every other

Friendly advice: PB&J andwich is your best (and safest) bet in that joint. Avoid the clams FULL STOP.
Better yet drive 5 more minutes into town and try your luck there.

One of the best chowders in all of New England. Perfect mixture of haddock potatoes seasoning onions cream and butter. Haddock sandwich is huge and cooked to perfection. Staff very helpful with great enthusiasm.

2nd time having Sea Basket was better than the first. It was a better choice to dine in rather than get take out to avoid things getting soggy or losing it's crispiness.

Shared a mixed seafood platter, half pound lobster on a long roll (bigger than a hot dog bun) and bowl of seafood stew. It is pricier but I felt it was worth the price for the high quality food. The seafood baskets are huge, lobster roll loaded, and the stew has large chunks of lobster meat. I prefer the original fried breading over the spicy.

Service was fairly quick. Looks like they had lots of fun ice cream flavors too

It looks like a cleaner-than-typical, Rt 1, food-by-the-pound establishment, with melamine seats and the wall art for sale. It's not (and if you read between the lines, that's why many of the unhappy reviews are unhappy; seafood-by-the-pound was what they were after). Think of it more like a Shake Shack; fried food, elevated a notch, with commensurate portions and pricing. (The chowder is excellent, too, FWIW.) For a very long time, this was consistently the best seafood available near Rt 1 between Brunswick and Rockland. Other places have caught up, but it's still one of the best

Sea Basket is an amazing stop to make with gluten free options, excellent service, and wonderful people. The owner, Matt, recognized that we were Clemson fans and got to know us. He then brought us 9 ice cream samples and a dairy free dessert as well. Wonderful experience. Highly recommend. Go Tigers!!!

It was ok. The crab cake and clam cake was average (don't remember much clam or crab) the jumbo platter looked big but it was mostly fries and a dinner roll hidden underneath. Pricing were good but overall the food was average.

Not worth the money. Just got a clam basket and was completely disappointed. The clams were chewy and overcooked and not fresh, fries were clearly from frozen - completely soaked in oil, and they don't even make their own tartar sauce. I don't know how they're so highly rated, but it's clearly not for taste or quality. It's pretty hard to be bad at fried food, but somehow they did it.

Fried seafood find. We we looking for fried oysters on our trip and these did not disappoint.

Being GF I have been nervous stopping places without research, but they have a dedicated fryer and will make most anything GF.

Food was filling and decently priced.

Clean interior.

This is always our first stop on the way to Pemaquid Point each summer. For us, it feels like the jumping off point for our trip and we always split a mixed platter of fried clams, scallops, shrimp and fish over fries. The only complaint I might possibly have is that you have iced coffee on the menu and yet, in the middle of the summer, it had to be made/brewed and iced down. This is an easy product to keep on hand in the fridge, using up the warm coffee from earlier in the day etc. Perhaps they were caught off guard by orders that day but my iced coffee finally came just about when I was finishing

My family has been a fan of this establishment for years. If you are in the area and looking for great fried seafood, then this is the place. Yeah, I know, it is not very scenic and does not fit your vision of the quaint seafood shack on a coastal wharf. Sitting on a picnic table by Route 1 is well worth the super fresh and impeccably fried fish, clams, scallops, etc. The lobster stew gets rave reviews as well but I have always been too busy shoveling whole belly clams into my pie hole to try it.

Great haddock chowder and large portions of fried seafood. The fried food is very crispy with a light coating.
They nicely remodeled the interior a while ago and it is a huge improvement. Casual but clean and updated. Only draw back is that it is right on the highway but in a beautiful Maine day you can sit on the deck or the yard and enjoy your food and the day.

We stop here every time we drive thru Wiscasset - which isn't often enough! I love the lobster roll and lobster stew, hubs gets fried haddock sandwich. Fancy it is not, clean it is. A basic, no frills restaurant with better than average food. I don't understand the people that are complaining about price - I have eaten at many places where you pay more and get far less - in both quantity and quality! We def recommend.

Went for our Anniversary because we have been here before and they have the best seafood around.
We ordered the fried scallops and shared it.
It was fresh and delicious fried to perfection. They have plenty of tartar sauce and ketchup. Later ordered side order of french fries. Golden brown and yummy.

NOW
They now carry beer for inside only. We had the Sam Adams. Comes in a 16 oz plastic cup. Wished they filled it a little higher.
Only inside beer is allowed even though they have outside dining.

Nice b&w photos on the wall of a marina and wharf.

Really large portions of fresh seafood. Best French fries in the area! Outdoor and inside seating that's a kin to a updated fast food restaurant. Staff were super nice. Love the free refills on soda.

The Sea basket is our favorite place to eat seafood. It's conveniently located outside of the quaint little Wiscasset village. The food is excellent the service is great! For our family some of us are gluten free and they have s very large seafood menu with reasonable prices for those who are and who are not gluten free!
If your in the mood for Sea food Sea basket is the place for you.

We had 2 recommendations for restaurants in Wiscasset and as we entered town we spotted a long line at the 1st recommended restaurant so we decided to drive on to our other suggested stop -- The Sea Basket Personally, I'm glad there was a long line at the first place on our list because the Sea Basket was EXCELLENT. I'm glad we drove on and found this place. This is not a fancy restaurant with table service, etc. You place you order at the counter and find a place to sit. When they call your name, you pick your food up at the counter.

My wife ordered the crab cake basket and was
