Eight Bells Winery
Established in 2009, the partnership joined friends Tim Bates, Andy Shepherd and Frank Michiels along with their decades of winemaking experience into a singular effort to produce quality wines that reflect the terroir of select Washington State vineyards. By having exclusive access to grapes from premier vineyards in Washington's Yakima Valley it allows us to produce wines of depth, complexity and character.

The nautical measure of time has traditionally been the ringing of a bell, one strike for each half hour of a four-hour watch. At the Eighth Bell the sailor's watch is over. At sea, Eight Bells marks a change, a change in watch, a change in activities. To us, Eight Bells Winery marks both a change in our careers and an opportunity to take our winemaking skills to a new level.
Services
Due to overwhelming demand (thank you!) We have extended our free chocolate and wine pairing experience to every saturday and sunday in November at the tasting room to from 11am-4pm. No reservations necessary, just come in and dazzle your taste buds with our fall inspired wine and chocolate pairing.
In addition to tastings, we will continue our free local delivery service on Fridays and we will still offer alley pick-up service on Saturdays and Sundays. Located in the Roosevelt neighborhood of North Seattle our urban winery is accessed either through a walkway off of Roosevelt Way or the Parallel alley in the back.
Our vineyard affiliations are the cornerstone of our winery. By having exclusive access to grapes from premier vineyards in Washington's Yakima Valley it allows us to produce wines of depth, complexity and character. Red Willow Vineyard, located at the western end of the Yakima Valley, is one of the oldest and most acclaimed vineyards in the state.
Where a global wine list meets seasonal northwest ingredient. Lively, casual, welcoming. Wrought iron fixtures, poured concrete floors, and old-brick walls. Over 70 wines available by the pour or in flights. It's an excellent destination whether you're on a date, meeting with friends, or holding a business function.
Donation Policy: We receive several requests each day for donations to a cause. We agree that all of these requests are worthwhile. However, we are a small winery and can only donate so much. Our policy is to try to support the organizations that our club members bring to us. Our usual donation is not a case or cases of wine but an empty magnum (1.5 L) with your event on the label.

We've been members since the beginning and have recently tasted some verticals. You'll find, as we have that varietals of their wine is great tasting even after 10+ years. That's a great reason to buy a few bottles to drink now and a few bottles to let age. Go taste their wine, and don't leave empty handed.

What an excellent tasting! Neal and Denise were extremely hospitable and kind to my partner and I when we visited. Neal was very knowledgeable of the wines and was a great time to chat with. The wine was stellar, so we bought a couple of bottles on our way out. Very excited to visit again this summer, thanks again Neal and Denise!

It's a nice local winery in the city. All grapes are sourced from red mountain which is one of the early vineyards in eastern washington. Their wines get high ratings from wine critics quite often. #eightbells

Great wine and the ambiance and laid back feel of the winery is just as great. Decided to become a member because it's so easy. Just commit to either 6 or 12 bottles twice a year. We were doing the 6 option but realized we consumed much more than one bottle a month haha so upgraded to 12 twice a year. We bring our dog in here every time!

Amazing find in Greenlake. The owners are extremely friendly and generous. We had the good fortune of speaking to Neal quite a bit while we were there. Wine was really good. Didn't run into any bad ones among the 6 or so that we tried. Would definitely recommend this and will be going back.

Eight bells is a charming urban winery with a nautical connection. The owners are kind and generous; it was clear by the people coming in that this is an intentional and well-received community. One of the highlights was the "dog of the year" coming in for a visit, picture on the wall and everything! We will be back.

I have no idea why it has taken me two years to write a review for this amazing urban winery. I go there every Saturday and I am a wine club member. I buy most of my wine from their winery on Roosevelt. They have a great variety of wines and all are delicious. The three owners: Andy, Tim, and Frank are all great people. Every Saturday they have wine tastings and they are always putting together special dinners, as well as other events. They do a great job of supporting local artists, restaurants, chefs, etc. I love this winery! If you love wine, go there and you won't be sorry.

The partner and I tasted at Eight Bells for the second time in the last couple of years. The first time we tasted, the tasting leaned heavier to the Cab Sauv and Syrah end of the spectrum. Syrah especially is a strength for Eight Bells, and I remember our last tasting as a very good experience tasting some nice wines. This tasting was a little more of a mixed bag. We kicked off with a Pinot Gris made from Oregon fruit. Nothing special here: tart, lemmony notes that were refreshing but didn't have a lot of nuance. Next came the showpiece for the day's tasting, a three pour vertical

My lovely friend, Krystin T., is getting married! That means wedding events galore which is how I ended up at this little gem of a winery. I had never thought of doing a bridal shower at a winery before but this was totally genius. The little space was so adorable - everyone was able to mix and mingle, a bar was set up wine to choose from, and a friendly pourer (maybe the owner?) was serving it up while not over-orchestrating and taking over the show.

We had enough room to play shower games, eat, drink and be merry. I actually can't speak about the wine since I (*gasp*) didn't have

Eight Bells is the best! The wine is delicious, worth well more than they charge for the quality. My favorites are the Syrah and the Sangiovese (and anything blended with those grapes). The owners are smart, fun and know their wines! They're opened each Saturday afternoon for tasting and will also tell you all about the wine, the regions the grapes are from, working for Noah, being Shellbacks and whatever else. There's nothing negative to say. Go there. Now!

An urban winery, sans vines at this location. Interesting artwork on the walls, casks stacked high, and friendly staff filling glasses. We didn't purchase but the wine was good enough for our friend who lives nearby to return for a pinot.

Eight Bells Winery is no Chateau Ste. Michelle -- and in my book, that's a good thing.

This quirky place was started by three lovely gentlemen who are all former basement-brewing hobbyists, and the winery has been operating full-time for about four years now. The first thing you'll notice when you step in the door is the nautical theme, completed by a large ship steering wheel on the wall. When it comes to their wines, Eight Bells currently offers a handful of whites and a nice variety of reds. I'm especially fond of their "Shellback," a lush, full-bodied blend of Cabernet

I agree with the other reviewer that you need to keep an eye out for this place but it is well worth it. They are open on Saturdays for wine tasting and the wine tasting is a great way to spend a little time. The wine is great and the men who started 8 Bells Winery are always happy to talk about the winery and the wines.

If you blink while driving you may miss it. But it's worth going around the block and finding a place to park. Great guys, great wine. And they'll even give you a tour of the place.
