Divorce is a painful and complicated legal process that can be made easier with the right attorney. At Danielle Hawkes Family Law we strive for solutions, not fights. Oftentimes fights cannot be avoided in divorce, but as attorneys, we also know that the skill of minimizing fights can save our clients money, time, and heartache.
A divorce should not be an endless battle. We pride ourselves on helping clients find solutions; not fights. Our primary goal is to solve cases in an efficient and cost-effective manner. We don't believe in adding fuel to unnecessary fires and would rather help parties come to a harmonious agreement.
Alimony is an issue that requires resolution in many divorce cases. In Utah, the court will seek to maintain each spouse at the standard of living that they enjoyed at the time of marriage. However, this aim is curtailed by each spouse's ability to fund that standard of living. For example, many families cannot maintain their standard of living after they have split, and therefore doubled, their living expenses.
Legal custody refers to which parent has the major decision making power for the child. The major decisions dealt with in legal custody are education, religion, and medical issues. Oftentimes, we can come up with a detailed agreement at mediation that spells out exactly how decisions regarding the children will be made.
If you have hired our firm to work on your divorce, custody, modification, temporary separation, separate maintenance, child support, or alimony case, you will be required by the Court to prepare a financial declaration. Our firm will walk you through the process by ensuring that you know what needs to be provided and by helping you organize it so it is presentable to the opposing party and the Court.
