We have been teaching meditation programs in the greater Chicago area since 1974. In 1983 we added the work of Professor Cheng Man Ching and Tai Chi Chuan to our curriculum. The longest standing of our homegrown teams was at first called The Human Process. In 1992 we converted The Human Process into a State of Illinois and U.S. Federal not-for-profit corporation.
Tai Chi is a rich and beautiful practice. Different teachers and traditions emphasize different aspects of Tai Chi. The Human Process is a community which carries the tradition established by Professor Cheng Man Ching of Tai Chi as a path to awakening. All our practices - form, qigong, meditation, sensing hands, sword - are designed to help us lead healthier and happier lives.

Services
For the time being The Human Process is not offering any classes. Please check back in August for an update of when we hope to have live classes to offer. You will also find live classes available, including the Beginner level classes (we call them B1, B2 and B3 - each one covers 1/3 of the short yang form as developed by Professor Chen ManChing).
The Human Process is located at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Evanston, at the Southeast corner of Grove and Ridge. Our teaching space is a very large room with high ceilings, lots of sunlight and level floors. There are about 8 parking spaces at the church, 4 in front and 4 in back. Side street parking is also available.

I attended Human Process Tai Chi classes for three years at my husband's suggestion. I was skeptical at first, only motivated by his interest. But The Human Process team -- Patrice, Patrick, and Sebastian -- set such a pleasant, encouraging and patient tone and were so clearly impassioned and dedicated to their own practice that eventually something was rooted in me. Now, three years after leaving the Chicago area, I am grateful for my Tai Chi practice and the way it continues to enrich my life. Thank you, Human Process team!

I am almost finished with my first 10-week class with The Human Process. The classes are a gentle and practical corrective to the biases - physical and emotional - of our typical go-go way of life. The instructors are patient and take the time to really break down the movements to help us understand them - both in our mind and body. I leave a little calmer and more relaxed each Saturday. I've done Tai Chi before and this is one of the best programs I've taken part in. For those who care about lineage, the the Yang short form as taught by Chen Man Ch'ing is what is practiced
