Services
The low vision specialist is trained to perform what is called a functional eye examination. This exam helps to determine how a person's visual impairment affects their day-to-day living. Dr. Diamos received her doctorate of optometry degree from Southern California College of Optometry and returned to her native Tucson to open her practice which offers eye exams, contacts, low vision services in Tucson.
Smartphone accessibility options, now a standard, have also been a real game changer for people who are blind or visually impaired. One of the first questions we ask a low vision patient is, "Are You Using A Smart Phone?" If not, "Why Not?" Siri voice recognition alone makes it easy to make phone calls and obtain information by just asking.
Bioptic telescopes can help eligible visually impaired individuals obtain a driver's license and be safer drivers, thus increasing their independence and enhancing their quality of life. Bioptic driving is a method of driving that utilizes both the patient's general vision in combination with intermittent spotting through a small telescopic system that improves the sharpness of the patient's far vision.

My elderly uncle went to see Dr. Diamos for a low vision evaluation after failing to pass his vision test at the MVD. He was heartbroken at the thought of not being able to drive anymore. After consulting with the doctor, she recommended a bioptic device for driving. Thanks to the knowledge and compassion of Dr. Diamos my uncle is safely on the road again! It warmed my heart to see one of my favorite people smiling ear to ear insisting HE drive us to lunch. If you have someone in your family needing low vision services I highly recommend Dr. Diamos!
