I absolutely love the New York Guitar Academy! I was a student at the nearby NYC Guitar School for over a year and I didn't make as much progress (or have as much fun) as I have in the first 4 weeks here.
The classes are fun and challenging and Jason is able to give you individual attention in each class. He's already broken some of my bad habits such as poor wrist position and posture.
I really look forward to every class and am really motivated to practice everyday because the songs are actually fun to learn. Not to mention, you start learning complete songs on day one. If you&apos

I have been taking classes with Adam Douglass at NY Guitar Academy for almost two years. He's an excellent instructor and gifted musician. He is very knowledgeable, friendly and shows lots of patience when dealing with his students. Even though I have my own tight schedule, I always try to attend his classes regularly since Adam’s teaching style is very efficient and effective for me to learn. I'd strongly recommend NY Guitar Academy to anyone who is serious about learning guitar. Adam as well as other instructors are very friendly and you will right away feel their warm welcome as you enter

Really wonderful parlor and school. They offer several types of classes, and I've been taking flamenco lessons there for more than a year. Jason and Eliza are truly masterful and talented musicians and instructors. Every lesson is interesting and challenging, but I have always felt encouraged. I've been playing and teaching myself guitar for over 10 years, but flamenco is a music that you need to learn from someone's guidance. They have been very flexible in helping me find the right level of cohort and time in my schedule. I highly recommend for any type of guitar study

I took Flamenco guitar lessons with Elysa for a year until I had to move out of the country. She is an amazing guitar player and a very flexible, supportive teacher who caters to the student's abilities and preferences. I brought back a video recording every week for practice and was able to go through a variety of material and skills in a short time. I am so glad to have found this place and I enjoyed every single lesson I had here. The environment is intimate and friendly so it is very comfortable to have lessons here. I also bought my first flamenco guitar at the guitar parlour with Jason's

If you want to learn how to play guitar NY Guitar Academy is the place to go! They have lots of different classes and great instructors. I've been studying with Jason for almost 6 months now. If you want to learn flamenco guitar Jason & Elysa are great teachers and really talented musicians. Their prices are reasonable, classes are small (up to 6 people). You can also get your guitar from their guitar parlor. And on top of that they have several guitars for the students to use so no need to carry your guitar to the class!

I decided I wanted to take individual electric guitar classes, so I booked a 45 min class at 3 different places to try them out. My first class was with Adam at New York Guitar Academy, and I'm really happy it was because I wouldn't have understood anything with the teachers at the other schools. Adam explains everything really well (general concepts and more detailed stuff) and it feels like he's actually prepared for the class. The other teachers just asked me "what do you want to play" but I wanted something a little more structured. I ended up going back to New York Guitar Academy and have

Amazing music academy with an even more amazing staff! I have been a student for the past year and have enjoyed the personalized lessons and flexibility of the program. The guitar "parlor" is excellent and I have purchased four guitars thus far at incredible prices! It is great to have such a well rounded academy where all of your musical needs, from instruments to instructions, can be met! It is a joy to fulfill a lifelong dream of playing the guitar and I am very happy with my choice to attend NYGA who by far have exceeded my expectations. Oh, yes...cannot forget, Jason is the best Flamenco instructor

Jason is an inspiring musician and an amazing teacher. I never played guitar before I took classes with him. It has been over 1 year since I started playing music. From day one you learn beautiful Spanish melodies. With each song you learn different techniques. The classes are super cool and laid back. There is shared appreciation towards the art of music. Plus, you will get to meet great people.

I studied Classical Guitar over 25 years ago. A few months ago I decided to go back and take lessons again, but this time I was looking to combine the Flamenco style in my playing. Jason was the perfect teacher for me because he has the ability to teach and play both styles with the same ease. Jason's step-by-step approach has been so helpful; it has allowed me to improve my skills and develop new techniques. He is a very encouraging and supportive teacher. I am enjoying playing the guitar again. Now I play differently and I listen to guitar music differently.

I have recently started learning flamenco guitar at NYGA. It has been an extremely delightful experience. At the end of each session, I eagerly look forward to the following lesson. Jason will make you fall in love with your guitar. He is not only a stellar guitarist himself but also an amazing instructor. This stems from his remarkable pedagogical skills in tandem with his enthusiasm for teaching as well as his calm and easygoing personality.
Overall, NYGA is a well-organized and professional academy for learning guitar. The ambiance is great and the staffs are nice and friendly.

I've been taking private lessons with Adam for over six months now, and I've had a wonderful time. Not only is he beastly at guitar, he's also a great teacher. He takes the time to make sure I understand what it is he's teaching me before he moves on. I've never had a bad experience at New York Guitar Academy. No matter how old you are (I'm a teenager), what your experience level is, or how convoluted your schedule is, NYGA can make it work.

I've decided to take a few classes at the NYGA after doing some initial online search for a good place to learn guitar but without knowing very much about the school or the teachers. Ever since my first class with Jason I knew I made the right choice and didn't need to look any further! Learning to play a musical instrument as an adult and a complete beginner without any prior musical training could be intimidating but Jason has helped me make this experience really rewarding and exciting. The great thing about Jason is that he combines a rare quality of being an amazing musician and a great teacher
