Ranelli's Deli has been a landmark on Birmingham's Southside for 50 years, serving mouth-watering sandwiches, salads, and pastas since 1971. Ranelli's is one of the last family owned and operated restaurants still around. We offer delicious food at affordable prices, great atmosphere and music. Try our homemade lasagna, olive salad, and the world-famous Richman's Po-Boy.
Some nights you can catch live music in the "Soul Pit."

Swell little joint. Price and taste of the lil' richman is crazy in a good way. That olive salad/relish stuff is phenomenal! Staff is friendly. They had an all-you-can-eat spaghetti special yesterday. I'm from Ohio and it reminded me of some of the local schools and other organizations that would host spaghetti suppers/socials for fundraising. Will definitely go back

Saw Ranelli's in some kind of coverage over the last year, though I don't remember why. I was probably looking up something about Reubens. (It's a thing; I've been known to do it.) Anyway, we were relatively close for an appointment around lunch time, so I requested to go. Even though we've lived in the metro area for more than 25 years, I hadn't heard of Ranelli's.
So, I ordered the reuben (surprise). Though in retrospect, my spouse also tends to order reubens (remember the 25 years + thing--yeah), so I kind of wish I had ordered the Richman. I could have

We are a essential business (hardwood floors) and we were finishing up a job in Birmingham during the COVID-19 pandemic. We have been trying to support local small businesses so as we were waiting on the homeowner to meet us we decided on Ranelli's. Both of us have ate there several times and it's always been good! We called in our order of Lasagna, the best sub around & a huge salad! To go of course and as usual it was awesome!!!!!

Boy o boy....I'm mad at myself for not stopping here before today. I had the best sub ever!!! When we walked in I was amazed by all the music items and posters that were on the wall it was beautiful.
I had the 16in...yes 16in Richman sub which came with fresh Italian bread and stuffed woth Ham, Corned Beef, Peppered Beef, Genoa Salami, Pastrami, Swiss, Provolone, Mustard, and Topped with Ranelli's Olive Salad...it was AMAZING and baby that bread make you wanna slap yo mama (sorry mom)!! I will be back Tuesday for SPAGHETTI DAY!! Heck I may go back tomorrow to try the pizza...either way

It was a nice place, really enjoyed the decor. I felt like I was in a time warp and went back in time. The food was authentic, delivered in a timely manner, and most importantly, tasty. If I had to be nit picky it would me wishing my salad had more italian dressing, or the ice machine had more ice, but those are super trivial. Most definitely going back, super cheap, and super good.

Based on the type of restaurant this is I give it the above score for the following reasons below. It is a great family owned and run joint. It is old school with a throw back to jazz era with decor. The food hasn't changed in years. Tuesday is spaghetti special day or Thursday is lasagna day. The go to me is the sandwich shop side of the fence. The LiL'Richman is the go to for me with chips and a drink. They have consistently had the same level of taste and quality. It's a divey fun place that I recommend to friends and those seeking a make to order local sandwich shop

SEEERIOUSLY delicious sandwiches.
I had the meatball sub and my husband had The Richman Po-Boy. HUUUGE sandwiches full of flavor and quality. I would have posted a picture but I gobbled it up way too fast. They have great service and great food, makes perfect sense this place has stood the test of time.

Very disappointing experience here. My friend and I came here for dinner one Friday night. After we struggled to find a parking spot in Five Points, we were told by a man working there that they weren't open. The sign clearly still said they were open. Sounds like someone wanting to leave work early to me. How am I supposed to review the food if you won't even let people taste it?
