Due to the unprecedented and rapidly changing circumstances and for the safety of our patients, staff, and their families, we are currently teleworking and our therapists are only providing Telemental health visits except for essential evaluations mandated in very specific cases. We are still accepting new patients via Telehealth.
You may still call the office and leave voicemails, we will be checking them periodically however the best way to contact us for prompt assistance is via our email at admin@potomaccenter-inc.com. About Telehealth: We are offering Telemental health visits for existing and new patients with our therapists.

I had a few appointments with a therapist but the sessions didn't seem personable. It seemed that she didn't even remember anything I mentioned from the previous appointments. The business doesn't have a confirmation for appointments, or any form of contact other than scheduling and taking your money. I had to cancel an appointment last minute because of a personal conflict, and was happy to pay for the last minute cancellation, as per the agreement but I really was unhappy with my therapist not following up with me. Typically, I would get an email from the therapist who I was seeing asking if

I was told that PCI only has two counselors that will take Employee Assistance Program (EAP). So you are very limited in who you can see at PCI. Best to look elsewhere if you are wanting to begin on your insurance EAP.
After half a dozen emails with admin to schedule an appointment, they did not actually schedule the appointment. We were informed on the day of the requested appointment (from the days and times they provided) that we were not actually scheduled. This entire process took weeks from the inquiry to the proposed scheduled time. They did offer additional times two weeks out. Best to

Dr. Gillum is awesome. My daughter was suffering, but it wasn't really clear to me what the problem was. Even though my daughter and I were communicating openly about her feelings, I didn't know how to help her. Dr. Gillum was able to figure out what the underlying issues were, develop a plan to help her deal with those issues, and teach my daughter how to deal with those issues. She gave my daughter the tools to manager her anxiety. My daughter no longer has to see Dr. Gillum -- not because she doesn't want to, but because Dr. Gillum enabled her to deal with her issues on her own. Dr. Gillum is

My daughter and I visited with 2 different therapist before we met Dr. Gillum. One therapist had suggested medication and never gave me a concrete plan to resolve my child's behavior issues. Since visiting with Dr. Gillum (over the past 11 months) my child's behavior has changed drastically. Dr. Gillum has given me the tools to manage different scenarios of my 10 year olds behavior and without recommending medication. She's caring straightforward, honest, and we could not have met anyone more suited to take on the challenges that my child and I have faced.

I have been seeing Dr. Gillum for about a year and half. I thoroughly enjoy and look forward to our monthly sessions. We are able to tailor my therapy to the frequency that I need. Dr. Gillum is invested in your treatment and well-being, and is clearly knowledgeable of various psychological modalities. I feel that I was lucky to be able to connect with Dr. Gillum at a time I need help the most!

We have been seeing Dr Debra Japzon Gillum, Ph.D a clinical psychologist for our son for a year and a half. She is the most compassionate and caring individual. She has provided strategies for us to use at home and have helped our son grow and develop in many ways. We appreciate the connection that she makes with our son. Even in the most difficult of times during Covid she has provided resources and strategies to help our child. We feel very fortunate to have found The Potomac Center and Dr Gillum.

The therapists are okay, most of the time. I didn't find the services terribly helpful, especially since as a single parent I found myself fighting to keep a sitter. They penalize people who have a hard time securing child care, and they have an atypical cancellation policy where they require 48 hours to cancel.
The stress caused by their garbage business practices overwhelmed any possible benefit I received from the therapists.

My family has been seeing a therapist at the center for 3 years. It's been a great experience that has helped my family immensely. Sure there have been occasional hiccups, but that's going to be anywhere. Our therapist Dr. Ogilvie has been wonderful. I try to schedule appointments in blocks--a month or so at a time in order to make everything easy. They have been great about handling all of our insurance issues as well.

Beware. This place is out to get your money, not to make you healthier. As stated in an earlier review, they treat new patents very poorly. I was the office manager of a dental clinic for 3 years, and I am flabbergasted by the way these people handle patient accounts - it's as if they don't care if you stay or leave. The entire practice is extremely disorganized and very difficult to contact. The office manager and the doctors play "pass the buck" when you have a dispute. The receptionist, Iris, will tell you just about anything to get you off the phone. Later, you will come

Very poor quality treatment of new clients. They make you sign a form saying you'll pay $100 if you don't give 24 hours advance notice of cancelling, but then cancel with you only once you've driven out to their office. No apology from the doctor and then the next one is late. When you complain they laugh at you.
