Being accustomed to Oto's Marketplace in Sac, I was very curious about this place; I wondered if this place would be a bonus go-to for my Japanese groceries. First thing I noticed upon entering is how small this store is (why didn't you guys tell me??). It's like the size of a mini convenience store in a downtown area. This mart mainly has Japanese food essentials (instant ramen, instant curry blocks, sauces, snacks/candy, etc.). No fresh meat/produce, but there is fresh packaged sashimi.
Eh, for what the place has in stock, I'd give it 4 stars. Why the overall 5-star rating

I visit pretty often and I have always loved the products sold here AND the staff! The staff is always kind and friendly, always willing to help you find what you need. There is mochi, sushi, inari, rice balls, etc that are made IN HOUSE and fresh every morning. There's tons of treats like snacks, desserts, and drinks to choose from too.

When I need Japanese foods, I usually head to Sacramento. However, that is over an hour drive for me. I shopped at Sakura this year for New Years. I was completely shocked at the quality, quantity, diversity of all the foods they have. They pack in so much in such a small area. As for customer service, they were awesome!!! I had a wonderful experience! I usually hesitate trying new stores because I hate hunting for my groceries. Any and all questions were pleasantly resolved, and many times they personally walked me to the products I needed. I will be a forever customer of theirs. Also

This is a great little Japanese market with food, dry goods, a frozen section, and even some tableware. I love supporting local businesses, especially mom and pop places like Sakura. They are always polite and helpful, which is admirable. They have a great assortment of ramens, dry noodles, and rice. They also have specialty Hawaiian goods, and desserts like Mochi. They have some tasty frozen dumplings, but I usually come in to buy sashimi grade fish for making my own sushi. If you want to learn how to make sushi rolls, they have all the supplies you need. I watched YouTube videos to learn and

I once loved shopping here as the staff were impeccably polite. Due to this consistently excellent customer service, I've come to expect nothing less. In my last few visits, however, I've noticed a change in customer service that is difficult to ignore. Subtle things like not handing the bag to me (but to other customers), sly digs at purchases, lack of friendliness reciprocity, gently nudging me to essentially 'hurry up and buy' and things of the like.
Although these things sound and appear innocuous to most, I pay attention to these things when a)it greatly differs from the

My family, friends, and I all love shopping here! The staff is very welcoming and helpful, the store has great products, and even before the pandemic hit the store has been extremely clean and sanitary! The fresh sashimi is always a favorite of mine to buy along with the mochi and some snacks. It's a small store but definitely worth the visit.

Sakura is becoming my favorite shop in all of Stockton and possibly California at this point. I love the Japanese culture and food. This store is extremely authentic. It seems like it's family owned but I don't know that for sure. Everyone is kind and helpful. Been here a lot of times and today I was determined to make my own sushi and sashimi at home. Came here and got the best cuts of Hamachi, Tuna, Salmon and Octupus. Got a few sides - seaweed salad, octupus salad, sushi rice and miso soup mix. For what I bought ($71) it would have cost $300-$500 for a 4 top for this much food (2lbs

If you haven't been to Sakura yet, you're doing yourself a disservice! This place is pretty awesome. From snacks to fresh food items to cute gifts, you will find something for you.
This place is family owned and you can tell that they hold themselves to a very high standards. Everyone I ran into was very friendly and was gracious and anticipatory in offering their assistance.
Every Japanese snack and drink I wanted were available. Cooking materials and ingredients were also available for purchase so I can make own Japanese food at home.
Definitely recommend stopping by!

I hadn't been inside this shop in many years but recently I have been on a quest to make ramen and I knew I would find all the essentials here. I was right! This store is pretty small but it is clean, well stocked and jam packed with tons of snacks, noodles, rice, condiments and don't forget the sake! I was a little overwhelmed by all of the noodle choices but the very sweet woman working helped me find the right type and also the right kind of wine.
Unfortunately I didn't have time to look at everything because I was on my lunch break but I will definitely return for a more thorough
