Overlook makes its home in Nelscott at the south end of Lincoln City, an area once densely forested with Spruce and Hemlock. The area remained mostly inaccessible until the construction of the Roosevelt Military Highway, Hwy 101. In the early 1900's two developers, Charles P. Nelson and Dr. W.G. Scott formed the Nelscott Land Company.
They subdivided their property into 87 small lots for vacation cottages as part of a small summer resort town. By 1927 Nelscott had an Auto Park Campground, a general store, bus depot, gas station, and restaurant. Nelscott never incorporated and in 1964 residents voted to become part of Lincoln City along with the communities of Oceanlake, DeLake, Cutler City, and Taft.

Siletz Indians and early settlers were well acquainted with the giftsof the central Oregon coast. They weathered winter storms andbasked in long summer days on miles of sandy beaches. Today, locals and visitors alike enjoy many activities and adventuresin Lincoln City and the surrounding Lincoln County.
Everyone loves a scavenger hunt and Lincoln City created a real winner with only one item to find. In cooperation with the artists at the Glass Center in nearby Taft, beautiful hand-blown floats are hidden (in plain sight) amidst the driftwood and sand of our beaches. Each is unique and yours to keep.

I love the Overlook, and have been coming for 50 years. Having said that, each unit has different owners and they take very different care of their units. 6 is the best. We just stayed in Unit 5 and were a little disappointed. The views are always amazing in every unit, so you can't really ever go wrong.

What a great weekend. I only wish We could've stayed longer. So comfortable and cozy. Didn't want to leave to do anything. I only wish I had taken more pictures from our deck. We had apartment number two( #2)with full 360 panoramic view of the ocean and the deck to go out on as sunset. AMAZING!
Thank you!!!
Thank you!!!

This hotel is my favorite on the coast! I don't stay anywhere else! My boyfriend and I stay here at least 6 times a year and we love it each time! Each room is uniquely decorated and quaint. Our favorite rooms are 5, 6 and 7. You feel like you're staying in a whole house because each room has a kitchen, bathroom and most have a seperate bedroom. For the price, it just doesn't compare to boring hotel rooms that all look the same and have no extra amenities. Each room also has an amazing ocean view and they're all steps from the beach. The owner, Anne, is also the sweetest lady

They allow dogs and I will say that I could definitely smell the dog smell in the room upon entering. Overall, I enjoyed my stay. Each room had it's own charm and I especially enjoyed dining with my family at the dining table with big windows. You could see the sunset and the beautiful moon over the water and the beach. There were lots of extra little touches like movies available to watch, a book collection, board games, it felt like a home. There is free wi-fi and free parking. If you are disabled or in a wheelchair please keep in mind that in order to get to the beach from here, you will

I have stayed here several times as a kid, this time I stayed with my husband and sadly I was kind grossed out. The room really needed a deep clean. I know it's a small company and the place is older which I don't mind but I can't Handel when places are dirty. It wouldn't take much to clean it up we stayed in the studio, it's small. Hope they clean better because I like this place.

When my wife and I go out to the coast, we like to stay in places that are a little bit different. There are hotels that offer the standard amenities and cater to a more suburbanite style of crowd, but I can stay at one of those places anywhere. At the coast, I want something a bit different. I want to be able to go there when the weather is not so pleasant and enjoy the coziness of a fire and just look outside the window with a fresh cup of joe.
Overlook fits the bill nicely. We stayed in the upstairs room that faces the ocean, and it was both cozy and relaxing. I was able to shed my normal
