Orthopaedic Specialties of Tampa Bay, P.A. was founded in 1968. Throughout the years our practice has expanded to include seven physicians and an outstanding staff. All of our physicians are board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.

We are available to schedule your orthopedic appointments Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. All previous medical records, x-rays, CT scans, MRI scans or other tests relating to your current medical issue. For your first visit, please arrive at least 30 minutes before your scheduled appointment time in order to complete your registration paperwork.
We are a Medicare participating provider and also participates in most HMO and PPO plans. Please call our Billing office at (727) 298-0423 with any questions about specific insurance plans. Orthopaedic Specialties requests that you familiarize yourself with the rules and regulations of your insurance policy.
Once you have made your initial appointment, please be sure to visit our Patient Portal to complete your registration and all of your medical history and information. You may also download, print and complete the forms prior to your arrival. The online Patient Portal will help you speed up the new patient registration process and get you in to see the doctor faster!
If you are in need of a prescription refill given to you by an Orthopaedic Specialties physician, please call (727) 446-5993 (Ext. Note: If you request a prescription after 12:00pm, it may take up to 24 hours for a refill. Prescriptions are not refilled after hours, on holidays or weekends. Please plan ahead if yo are running out of medications!

Exceptional customer service. Dr Howell did surgery on my roommates shoulder with the upmost care, was very knowledgeable about her situation and was scheduled and done within a week in a half.. it's healing fast. I am her caretaker and really liked Dr. Howell. We would highly recommend him for Orthopedic Surgery

After several appointments I feel comfortable to say: The location is convenient: greeting (sign-in-staff) always pleasant and helpful in any way they can and willing to help you with the paperwork if necessary: Doctor's assistants, in particular Diane, are professional able to answer your questions, and inform you of what to expect during your visit. I see Dr. Howell and Herrema, always greeted with a smile, and a pleasant comment, both exceed professional expectations. In today's world the the above-mentioned is and should be very appreciated.

I have been coming to this place for 32 years or since Dr. Morris and Dr. Piazza ran the show. I have had multiple breaks, sprains and surgery’s over that timeframe and would say they are the best in the Tampa Bay Area.
Dr. Michael Piazza who has since referred me to one of his younger associates Dr. Howell has held up with that level of prestige in completing a recent full ACL/ Meniscus scope. In connection with the therapy department and more specifically Mr. Winston of that department the team has got me back up and walking unassisted within just 5 days post surgery.

I am an 80 year old male who has just had my right hip replaced on June 22nd by Dr. Mitchell Herrema! I never had ANY pains through the 2 weeks of Bay Care Home Care and went from a walker to a cane within days of the surgery! If I had to express my definition of the care at Morton Plant Doyle Tower AND Dr. Herrema’s skills it would have to be that all concerned parties were exceptional and the quintessential of care, skills and patient concern!
Dr. Herrema provided me with a new lease on life as I had to wait for an entire pandemic year to replace my right hip which had a “bone on bone”

Dr. Michael Venezia gave me back my life, easy to talk to, explaining everything and listening to me. An extraordinary surgeon who has given me my life back. His staff is just as caring and helped every step of my journey from barely being able to walk to pain free movement. Dr Piazza is just simply the best! I was diagnosed with scoliosis at 12 and was treated by him and come to find out 26 years later I needed to see him for a herniated disc. He is the only one I truly trust. Caring, conservative and very up front about your care. Thank you and your staff for being there for me yet again 25+ years later!

Dr Davidson is just simply an amazing surgeon. He did surgery on my neck for disc number 4,5,6 fusion . He fixed me! For the last 20 years I’ve been going to doctors complaining about a numb arm and Dr Davidson fixed me. As soon as I woke up from surgery I no longer had a numb arm and it did not come back it perfect . I am three months post op surgery and feeling great. I would recommend Dr Davidson and the group to anybody that needs neck surgery or any other surgery!
