Services
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) practices, once referred to in the U.S. as "alternative medicine, " are now considered complementary to standard Western medicine practices. In 1998, a study done by the Minnesota Department of Health laid the groundwork for health insurance plans in our state to begin covering acupuncture and other TCM therapies.

First time receiving acupuncture. I was nervous, but the atmosphere is very homey, and Kim made me feel very comfortable. I was getting back spasms every few months for the past 14 years, and most recently, in the worst flare up I've experienced thus far- with spasms off/on for over 4 weeks. I cant say for sure it was the acupuncture or cupping, but since my first appointment, I haven't had a muscle spasm.

I saw Adrienne Suess several times when my due date came and went. She provided acupuncture and cupping to help induce my labor (among a few other techniques I don’t recall the names of). Not only was it relaxing in a stressful time, but I am convinced she helped induce labor because my daughter was born two days after my appointment with Adrienne! I have been seeing Dawn for acupuncture for several months, and I couldn't be happier. I came in as a complete novice and a bit of a skeptic about Traditional Chinese Medicine. I've been a client of MPA for years and have received help from them for numerous issues, including back pain, anxiety and pregnancy-related issues. Their providers are truly educators. I came to Merriam Park Acupuncture in a time of dire need and was welcomed with open arms. In working with Dawn I was able to heal my severe digestion issues that were leading me to dangerous weight loss and a terrible quality of life. Through acupuncture, herb and dietary treatment I was able to recover from what could of been a life threatening… event in my life, to now healthier than ever ! I definitely recommend Barb Fowlds for your acupuncture treatment! In the past I depended on western medicine and doctors to cure everything that was not going well for me. I have done a total turnaround and… now rarely see my doctor. Barb has helped immensely in easing chronic lower back pain, knee and shoulder pain, and also in improving digestive issues. Barb healed me! I had terrible shoulder pain, couldn't even lift a glass of water without without wincing. I had a surgeon tell me it was my rotator cuff, and that the only solution was surgery. Instead, I decided to try acupuncture. Barb said she could help me, and she sure did! It only took two appointments and my shoulder was as good as new! Barb is tremendously knowledgeable and thoughtful. She truly cares about her patients. I am incredibly thankful for her and her healing abilities!

I have been seeing Barb for about a year now. I started seeing her because of issues with neck and back pain as well as infertility. I have to echo the review that Jackie T. left. Barb has helped me understand how stress and diet effect all aspects of my health and how simple changes can make a huge difference. My migraines have stopped recurring. My eczema is nearly gone. Barb has recently helped me heal and find balance with my digestive and skin issues - things I have been struggling with for over 10 years. I felt comfortable with Barb right away. She listened to my concerns and helped me understand the root causes for my issues. Barb cares about my health, and in turn is able to teach me how to find balance. This is something that I really value and don't often find, especially in western medicine. I would highly recommend Barb and wish I would have found her sooner!
