Located in Portland's Clinton neighborhood, this four bedroom, two bath home was remodeled from top to bottom. It was a fixer that had been gutted of all original charm, even the original trim and doors had been removed. The vision was to restore the character of the craftsman while also weaving in a modern look.
For this kitchen and dining room remodel, we removed a bearing wall in order to allow for a better flow and use of space. We restored the original windows and installed new windows to match. Originally, the home had oak floors in the dining room, but not the kitchen. We refinished the hardwood floors and carried them into the kitchen for a seamless transition.
Modern kitchen transformation for designer couple in a mid-century bungalow house. Walls were removed between kitchen, dining and living rooms for a fully open front room perfect for socializing while cooking and entertaining. Paneled refrigerator and dishwasher were used to disguise the view of appliances from the living area.
The footprint of this home was lengthened by sixteen feet to accommodate a new master suite with vaulted ceiling, a large bathroom and walk-in closet & dressing room. The designer/client had a fantastic vision for this new space that included a floating vanity with accent lighting below, marble floors, and herringbone tile ceiling in the shower just to name a few.
This 1917 home was updated with modern convenience and an open floor plan while keeping the original character of the home. Energy efficiency was a primary goal in the renovation of this home. Special care was taken in providing an air-tight envelope. High efficiency appliances, tank-less water heater, furnace and fresh air systems all helped to create a comfortable and healthy home while reducing utility costs.

Akos remodeled our kitchen and dining room and we could not be more pleased. Not only did the project turn out beautifully, they were wonderful to have in our home during a very challenging time when all of us are working and doing schooling from home. The contractors were courteous, quiet, friendly, and just plain pleasant to have around.
They kept everything clean and tidy at all times. They provided prompt communication and excellent planning around the project. They were highly aware of safety concerns around Covid and made sure all sub-contractors were too. When something wasn't quite right

Truly Exceptional. Akos Construction helped my wife and I remodel our 1920s home. We cannot speak highly enough about this company and would recommend it whole-heartedly to anyone looking to remodel their home.
When we bought our home, we knew at some point we would need to remodel. As examples, we had galvanized pipes that offered only limited water pressure, and our deck had broken boards and rusted screws. Something would need to be done, and consequently, we started speaking to contractors shortly after we moved in.
After several years of talking to professionals that never quite felt good
