Wood From The Hood was born from a simple idea: Reclaim discarded trees from the local neighborhoods to create beautiful, high-quality wood products. The idea came to Cindy and Rick Siewert as they watched an old Ash tree being cut down in the backyard of their Minneapolis home. Losing their neighborhood tree was hard enough, but hauling it to a landfill was not an option.

Unique furniture grade species including ash, elm, and black walnut plus Minnesota exotics: honey locust, hackberry, catalpa and other character grade woods.

Working with Wood from the Hood was a great experience. We went into the store, picked out a slab, and Jon made a gorgeous coffee table according to our specifications. It took about 8 weeks, which was very reasonable given the scope of work (and especially considering we are waiting much longer for furniture we ordered from reputable furniture stores).
The end result is a beautiful statement piece that we will use for years to come.

We loved getting our growth chart for our daughters first birthday! We know we won’t be in our current house forever and decided this was the best way to bring these memories with us. I LOVE WOOD FROM THE HOOD! I was gifted a cribbage board and it’s one of my favorite things I own. I get so many compliments on it and I get so excited to flip it over and tell people what kind of wood it is, where it’s from, and the wood from the hood story. My partner and I are both active in our local art community so we love locally created items and LOVE all things Minnesota and Midwest. I love how personal my experience has been and upon receiving my extra pegs, it felt like it came from a friend.

I ordered one of their growth charts for my kids. Its GORGEOUS. I've been wanting one forever and am glad I finally went ahead with it. Wood From The Hood is such a gem if you enjoy woodworking or home DIY projects, especially during all of the time at home during quarantine!! We've gotten quite a few different slabs of wood for lots of different projects, and they always have what we are looking for and employees are always happy to help us find it!
They also have a section with completed projects like charcuterie boards or cribbage boards that make awesome gifts!! Parking is available, and the staff are super knowledgeable!
