The name Basswood is derived from the inner bark, or "bast" of the tree which was used by Native Americans to make rope. Basswood is one of the most versatile hardwoods available in the United States because its natural color is a light creamy-white and the wood is readily adaptable and moldable to almost any application.
Knotty Alder grows, typically, along the Pacific Northwest in North America. In recent years Knotty Alder has surged in popularity in the building industry. Many consumers now have their furniture, kitchen cabinets, shutters, and mouldings (among other things) made with Knotty Alder. Knotty Alder is primarily used in stained applications because of its nice grain structure and the rustic knots that accent the hardwood.

I cannot say enough great things about Stanfield Shutter! We have worked with Chance and received exceptional service. I love how the shutters have elevated the look of our home and whenever we have questions or need a repair (we have 5 kids and things happen) Chance is so quick to help us. We have had Stanfield Shutters in our home for more than 20 years. They still look beautiful and are in great condition. Recently, we needed a minor repair. It was easy to discuss the nature of the repair in order to keep repair costs low. We were able to schedule a repair quickly, and the Stansfield Representative (Chance) arrived right on time. The repair was taken care of within 20 minutes. We couldn’t be happier!

We recently finished our basement and remodeled the rest of our home and new shutters were on the top of our list. I am very pleased with how everything turned out. Specifically, Chance was exceptional from start to finish. I accidentally broke one of the slats on one shutter playing catch with my kids in the basement the other day. I called Chance and he literally showed up the very next morning and replaced it for us!

We are extremely happy with our plantation shutters from Stanfield. Chance has been amazing to work with. We had this installed back in 2018 and Chance has come back twice throughout the years to help fix any issues we have had due to our small children pulling too hard on the shutters. All of this has been done free of charge and within days of calling. We highly recommend this company!

After completing the construction of our home a few years back, we had Stanfield come out and install plantation shutters as window coverings. They did a great job! The coverings look awesome. The custom fit is perfect. The service was great.
One of the features I like the best is that the shutter control rod is hidden so that the view is unobstructed when the shutters are open.
The shutters provide a really nice home aesthetic (see photos) and also provide privacy when desired.
Stanfield has been great to work with. I highly recommend them!

Stanfield is the best! One of the things I loved about our house when we were looking to buy were its beautiful wood shutters. After we moved in I noticed one of the slats in our family room were broken. Since we weren't the homeowners who installed them I wasn't sure who to call to have it repaired. I reached out to Stanfield Shutter and they were immediately responsive. They gave me a great deal and didn't flinch at the fact that I didn't know where our shutters were purchased from. I'm so pleased that I found them!

We LOVE our shutters from Stanfield Shutter. They make a room look so elegant and “finished.” They make your window pop! They are very high quality and beautiful! I get so many compliments on them. We put them on all the windows throughout our house and they are holding up beautifully - even with young kids at home! We also love that they have reduced our heating and cooling bills a bit, on top of adding value to our house. They are absolutely an investment in your home!
