Services
Jim Lewer is the owner and primary instructor of Patriot Sailing. Jim possesses a 25 ton Master's License issued by the United States Coast Guard (USCG). Our sailboat is also maintained in compliance with USCG regulations. Since his first sail on a two person"dinghy" in the 1980's, Jim has had a love for sailing that lasts to this day.

A: Weather permitting, we will sail from the second week in May through the middle of October. A: We do not cancel due to rain alone. Classes/Cruises are cancelled at the discretion of the Captain in the event of lightning, unsafe winds or other conditions. Captain Jim at Patriot Sailing is an excellent instructor. His passion for sailing is evident with his attention to detail as an instructor as well as maintenance quality of his boat. The ability to practice every aspect of sailing ( to be the skipper and the crew) in order to build confidence makes Patriot Sailing a great place to learn to sail.

My husband and I took the 2.5 hour introductory sailing course with Jim this past Monday. Right from the moment we spoke on the phone all through the sail Jim was nothing but professional, kind and informative.
Day of sail: Jim met us in the location very clearly specified and we exchanged pleasantries on the way to the boat. Before boarding he explained all of the necessary safety information, key terminology, and how to properly board the boat. For the next couple of hours we got a very comprehensive instruction on all of the ins and out of sailing. My husband and I had actually never been on

This was really a cool experience. My adult daughter and I did this together and both loved it. A really great way for me to get re-introduced to sailing. Jim has a great way of explaining concepts and made our 3 hour sail very enjoyable. Highly recommend!

I have done sailing excursions before but this was the best. Jim is an excellent skipper who both made sure we enjoyed the cruise but also imparted knowledge. My husband took sailing lessons years ago and he let him try his skills during the sail. Signing up was easy, the cost was worth every penny. Most importantly we didn’t feel at all rushed and Jim worked with us to find the perfect day for sailing!

We had an amazing sunset cruise with captain Jim. He was so nice and ensured our safety throughout the whole trip. He couldn’t have been more accommodating, knowledgeable and kind. Best first time sailing… experience for my girlfriend and I. We are definitely going to be sailing again and only with patriot sailing. I highly recommend Jim for all of your sailing needs! Also we love pictures and took our tripod (rookie sailor mistake). We accidentally left it on the boat. I have always been interested in sailing and thought this opportunity with Patriot Sailing was a great way to see if I would like to learn more. Jim was excellent from the first contact. The outing was myself and 2 others on a beautiful late afternoon. Jim had us each doing a job on the boat including coming out of the dock and returning. It allowed me to really see/feel what sailing is about. It was a reasonable price for this several hour ride and it "hooked" me on learning more ! Thanks Jim

One of the best sailing experiences I had. Jim, the instructor prepared me well with a mix of on the boat and classroom training. Well organized course and well worth the value. The boat that I was training on was in superb shape. I have learned so much from Patriot Sailing and I highly recommend this course.
