Dimensional Engineering was founded in 2005 by William O. Bonner, widely recognized as a pioneer and leader in the use of non-contact laser scanning and laser tracking for reverse engineering and other 3D metrology applications.

3D Scanning is the process of capturing physical data and processing it into digital data. The scanning process works by first using a laser to take thousands of data points a second that each have a specific X, Y, and Z coordinate value, known as a point cloud.
The point cloud data is then post-processed into a polygonized mesh model (.stl), which can be used for rapid prototyping, part inspection, or reverse engineered to be a solid or surface model.Dimensional Engineering has had years of experience utilizing 3D scanning technology. Our advanced equipment allows us to scan parts from as small as a screw to as large as a semi-truck without losing scan quality and accuracy.

One of our most powerful metrology tools we utilize is a Coordinate Measuring Machine, or CMM. Our large volume CMM allows us to take discrete points on the surface of an object in three dimensions, and then use those points to generate precise and accurate measurements. The benefit of a CMM is the elimination of human error by automating the inspection process through the use of Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) G-code.

Jason at Dimensional Services was fantastic. We are working to develop alternative masks in response to COVID-19 situation and called him with an urgent request to 3D-scan a mask at the last minute. He was gracious and stayed past the normal work hours to receive our order. Not only that he turned it around super fast, within a couple of hours. The resulting work was of very high quality and allowed us to continue our work totally uninterrupted. When talking about on-time and on-quality work, Jason came through in spades. The services provided by Dimensional was excellent. Their staff home office staff answered all of the questions before field measurements to meet our requirements. Their field services crew were professional, knowledgeable, provided the services and data on time. Highly recommended.
