In 2014 we decided to enter the retail side of the business and opened our first retail outlet in Sacramento, California in the Uptown Arts District. In this location we feature an on - site optical laboratory for your convenience, and can usually turn around work in roughly half the time as Costco or Wal Mart.
Our frame selection is unique because we work with importers to acquire close outs and over runs at a great savings and we pass this on to our valued customers. We also scour the world for rare vintage frames and we even carry gently used frames from National Optometric Affiliates that we refurbish.

We're celebrating our 6th birthday and you're invited! We will be turning six years old in September and we want to celebrate with you! We will have our trunk show, live music and more! And if you have been to one our events, then you know that we will have special guest brands for our trunk show portion of these events.
Thank you to everyone who's been instrumental in the formation of the North Sacramento Optometry Center. North Sacramento and surrounding areas now have expanded access to vision care! The Center is the vision of "That Guy" Eyewear owner, Dennis Peterson, who after a year on the Boulevard saw that the neighborhood was underserved in vision care.

I've purchased three pairs of glasses at That Guy Eyewear over the last two years. I have always been pleased with my purchases and with the excellent service I receive when I shop there. Highly recommended for exquisite and/or simple eyeglass frames. Wonderful place to buy glasses! The proprietor will always retain my business. I switched from Warby Parker (loyal since 2012) to That Guy without a hesitation. Dennis's selection of cool, unique frames makes every other shop I've been to straight kitsch in comparison. Dennis's genuinely thoughtful and effective customer service exceeds any experiences i can recall. The man knows what he's doing; he's a true expert in frames that work for individual faces. His customer appreciation events and trunk sales are AWESOME, but I might be admittedly more wooed by his handwritten invitations, on which he includes truly personal touches. My wife and I went in to see what all the rave reviews were about and now we know. This place had dozens of glasses that not only fit me but were super cool and modern. I have a big round face so most times I am lucky if I find 1 pair at an eyewear place. I felt like I hit the jackpot in eyewear fashion. My wife found several pairs that looked really fantastic on her as well so now we can both shop in one place. Dennis has superb customer service skills and we felt like royalty in his shop. We will definitely be shopping here from now on. That Guy Eyewear does NOT disappoint!

So the first time I came in the guy who owns it was nice I got some frames and lenses. But where it went all bad was when I tried getting a second pair of glasses. He told me he had the frames I got before in a different color I said that’s fine I will take the frames. I told him I would send my girlfriend with the money the next day. So when my girlfriend goes in he said he never said he had the frames and that he had to order them and that he told me that. I then got upset because my girlfriend said he was being extremely rude. I am all about supporting mom and pop shops but he had no right

I have a deep gratitude for Mr. Dennis Peterson. He Is a very fine craftsman, in the true sense of what it means to be skilled in one's trade the way it was a long time ago when people took pride in their work.
I waited a little while from the time I picked up my glasses to write this review because I wanted to be sure that I would be as happy with my glasses after a time as I was when I left Mr. Peterson's store. I am even more happy now than I was on that day.

Just went into That Guy Eyewear to pick out a new pair of glasses because the frames I have, I've had for about 5 years and I knew I needed new ones. My family had been telling me to go see Dennis for months, and so I went in today with my sister on my day off. His shop is filled with frames for what seems like all the ages...modern, hip, classic, traditional...etc. I grabbed a couple of pair and tried them on. Great shop, prices & service. I dropped my frames off to get lenses on Wednesday and they were ready on Friday- incredibly quick. Additionally, I attended his Trunk Show and met so many wonderful people including Chef Bunns, who provide magnificent appetizers, along with some great wines. I will be back quickly to get more exceptional services.

This was a wonderful experience from having a variety of fun and funky frames to chose from to the fabulous service. The owner is very down to earth and knowledgeable. He is very helpful and costs were very reasonable. The turnaround time was also much shorter than expected and than experienced at other competitors. Great Job Dennis!
