It is estimated that 5 to 10 arc flash and blast explosions occur in electrical equipment every day in the United States, with 2,000 people suffering severe burns each year. Many arc flashes and short circuits occur when maintenance workers are manipulating live electrical equipment for testing or repair and accidentally cause a fault.
To perform an arc flash study, it is required to perform a coordination study in tandem with a short circuit study in order to remove potential hazards in your facility. A coordination or power flow analysis is the examination of the electrical system and available documentation with the goal of ensuring that overcurrent protection devices are properly designed and coordinated.
Power System Evaluations minimize high costs associated with power outages. Installations must consider service reliability requirements of loads supplied and the service reliability provided by the electrical supply system. Bay Consulting Engineers' power evaluation methods use probability theory to assess system reliability.
