As an Austin psychologist, people seek me out when they feel stuck with their suffering and painful feelings. Some have had their world rocked, others have had such rough starts to life that peace feels elusive. If this sounds familiar, I invite you to keep reading. You may have tried lots of things to move forward from disappointing relationships, traumas, depression, or anxiety, but it isn't working.
Relief has been temporary at best. One thing is for certain - you do not have to do it alone. As an Austin psychologist providing counseling to the greater Austin community, I provide an environment where deep healing can occur, where all parts of you can feel seen, safe, and understood. This is a place where your internal world is accepted and nurtured, rather than judged or stigmatized.

I've had my share of setbacks and I know what it's like to feel stuck. Due to these experiences and the people who helped me, I came to learn that the things that hurt us do not have to define us, and the painful things in this world do not get the final say in how we live our lives. It takes effort to be the author of your life, rather than living out what was written for you.
Regardless of how bad things have been, you're here and that's evidence that hope resides in you. Are you ready to continue your healing journey? Life isn't easy, but sometimes it's downright brutal. Trauma can impact everyone from combat veterans to infants. Trauma is when something happens that overwhelms your system, and life has felt frozen ever since.
In many ways, you are successful - you excel at your work, do well academically and benefit people around you. But there is a part of you that doesn't match up with the rest. You may have the same argument with different partners, feel lonely regardless of situation or ruthlessly attack yourself despite your accomplishments.
My specialized training includes Postpartum Support International and 2020 Mom's Maternal Mental Health Certificate Online Training for Mental Health and Clinical Professionals, and Pregnancy and Postpartum Health Alliance of Texas's Postpartum Mood and Anxiety Disorder training. Additionally, I am Circle of Security Parent Educator.
I work with all members of the adoption triad, specifically teens, adults, and parents impacted by adoption. Throughout their life, people tend to have different understandings and feelings about what it means to be adopted. Families don't have just one conversation about adoption - it is ongoing, changing, and evolving.

I have known Dr. Reeder for many years professionally and think very highly of her. She is a sharp clinician, has a warm presence but is also very straightforward and clear. She is one of the first people I think of when asked for a referral for trauma and attachment work and I have the upmost confidence in her abilities.

I highly recommend Christy for psychotherapy. I readily give out her name when someone needs support healing from trauma or is struggling in the postpartum period. She has advanced training in these areas (and more). As her colleague and officemate I find her to be refreshingly down to earth, hard working, smart and funny.

Christy is an exceptionally empathetic, knowledgeable, and skilled clinician...and an overall kind human. I've had the pleasure of collaborating with Christy over the last 3 years putting on educational events for clinicians and the public on topics related to trauma, attachment, and parenting. Christy is someone I regular refer folks to for issues related to trauma, postpartum issues, somatic experiencing, and EMDR.
