When the of founders Columbus arrived from Italy in 1917, they brought a bit of Italy with them. With authentic Italian recipes in hand and mastery of salame-making in practice, they began crafting and selling their Old World artisan salame in San Francisco, California, long before "artisan" was known as such.
Every family in Cetara has a connection to the sea. One of these families is the di Mauro family. Francesco di Mauro, a retired Navy Captain, founded Ittica Alimentare Salerno (IASA) and was among the first companies to preserve the bounty of tuna and anchovies brought in by the local fishermen. IASA became well known throughout Italy when Francesco developed a new steam pasteurizer to preserve fish in glass jars.
After leaving his homeland and coming to the U.S. he began cooking more frequently to recapture the flavors of his youth but to his disappointment the nuoc mam nhi he found in Asian markets tasted flat or harsh. Nothing seemed to have the sweet rich flavor of the nuoc mam nhi his family enjoyed in Vietnam.

Freeport has so much good stuff on this block. Taylors has very hard to find and niche items. Whoever does their inventory is well educated on products as most are generally the best in their class. For coffee they have the best sacramento roasters, their meat is top quality. Consistently having the best stuff in a very small store.

BEST TUNA SANDWICHES
I work close by and grab lunch often. Great butcher and delli counter with daily specials that are fast and tasty. Recently a co-worker mentioned that the tuna was their favorite. I love a good sandwich but really ever buy them because they usually aren't very good. Well let me tell ya, Taylor's Market makes the best damn classic tuna sandwich I've ever had. I find myself thinking about them over the weekend. I get mine on Chibata or French roll, no mustard, add Swiss and thow in some Lay's classic chips. Mmm. You can thank me later.

I recently shopped at Taylor's Market to shop for meat items. Paul, one of the butchers behind the meat counter was professional and so very helpful. I asked for ground chicken. He checked inside the meat counter and the freezer and said they were out. He then offered to take some fresh chicken next door to have it ground up for me!!! I continued to shop and within 10 minutes, I had freshly ground chicken all wrapped up and ready to go. He kindly removed the skin from the freshest salmon I have ever had (I made Salmon Corn Chowder that night) as I always struggle to get it off. Paul

I'm saying it: done with Taylors forever. I can understand the unreasonable prices, totally fine. I live around the corner and the convenience is worth every penny.
But if I'm spending an arm and a leg ,I don't also want to be treated poorly by staff every time. I always feel like I am putting them out and it's become tiring.
My motto: be nice or go home. You are not above that , Taylor's. Even if you feel you are cause you have a great location.

Rating 5.0 TLDR: this is just for the meats... GO. Great cuts. Great price. Very eager to come back and try their charcuterie cuts and their sandwiches. Most, if not all their meats have great marbling. I'm definitely only coming here to get my quality meats.
I've basically said everything I needed to in the tldr. I heard they had dry aged cuts so I went to check them out. They dry age for at least 30 days! This is great (yes, if you had a dollar for how many times I've used great in this review ). Good luck trying to find that type of dry aged quality at local restaurants (said

So when I lived in LA there where are amazing markets - and now that I am in the Sacramento area, I've found a home away from home.
Meat counter- brilliant
Seafood selection - amazing
The isles were bursting with an outstanding selection of imported goods -
Looking forward to my next trip - or reason to shop!
**Update**
Dinner was just amazing. The cut cooked up so well.

I picked up a Turducken from the meat department this week. I had heard so much about it and this was VERY expensive. We cooked it for 7 hours and let me tell you SOO GOOD!
Taylor's Market made it for us the same day fresh. This was nice because places like Nugget or a high end Meat market require orders ahead of time for the holidays.
Happy Holidays!

Taylors Market has been a local tradition since the early 1960's. Taylors Market is clean, well organized, boasts a robust Meat Counter and Butcher, has a wonderful Deli, farm fresh produce, gourmet meats, spices, and international products They have a great wine selection. All for very reasonable prices, excellent customer service, neighborhood gourmet Market. It's truly fun just to venture out to Taylors Market and just walk through the store and see all they have to offer!

Yes, they are pricey compared to most grocery stores, but they are locally owned and have been around for as long as I can remember.
My husband and I used to frequent Taylor's when we lived in the area and we always loved coming here. They have all the good stuff - even fresh baked goods and pre-made food.
We stopped in on Sunday to pick up a few things and the staff were wearing masks and they even have a hand WASHING station right outside for you to use before and after if you choose.
The staff is always very friendly and personable - it's one of the reasons we enjoy coming here

Taylor's Market is a specialty, small, local market located off Freeport, near the train tracks. I am not a frequent shopper of Taylor's Market, due simply to the prices of their products. But every now and again, I will stop in for a particular item.
On my most recent visit, we got some spicy Italian sausage for a pasta dish and some cheesy garlic bread. The spicy sausage were very tasty and reasonably priced.
Quality meat, produce, and other local products at a little bit of a premium price.
