Q: After I light the pilot, why is it everything shuts down after I turn on the burner in my fireplace? A: Yes! Vent free log sets are built to emit a safe level of carbon monoxide, provided logs are in proper position and they stay clean. If cleaned and serviced annually, you'll never have a problem with odor or CO.
We have to reduce our service. The virus outbreak has presented unforeseen challenges to my service staff. Our temporary service area extends from Evanston to 63rd Street in Chicago, and from the lakefront to I-294. We will not service any high-rise buildings (13 floors or more) due to being short staffed.

My husband and I purchased a condo with a gas fireplace last spring. We used it once, but it smelled like gas. Jeff came, cleaned it up, placed the logs in the proper position and now it's perfect! When we were experiencing issues with our fireplace - odors of burning dust, extinguishing flames, and a lack of warmth in our living room - we called Firefixer for basic maintenance, and voila! Problem solved.
They charge $145 to completely clean your fireplace. Cleaning includes vacuuming the entire interior, taking out all the pieces of logs and cleaning them individually, taking out some of the old embers and adding new embers, and giving the front glass a deep clean on both sides.
The glass is now incredibly clear and the room warms like a champ.
